Got this as a gift for my boyfriend. We love sushi (but eating out all the time is costly). This kit came with EVERYTHING. The plates are small, but in Japan they would be normal sized... You can fit 4-5 pieces on a plate. The bazooka is pretty nifty and makes PERFECT rolls. It does seem a bit cheap... The hinges and clasps can be tricky to line up when placing the halves together. But for the price, it definitely does what its meant to do.

I love this thing! I got it for a mother’s day gift, and was so excited to try it out! It turns out it’s very easy to use and clean, the worst part was that the hinges on the back of the bazooka sometimes come unhinged when closing it, so just double check that and you should be fine. I found a lot of reviews that sounded as though people hadn’t been able to get a good sushi roll from it, but if you follow the directions, and use good sushi rice, it’s awesome! The knife is nice and sharp, and cut through my sushi rolls easily (I had let them sit for ten minutes or so to dampen the nori and make it easier to slice). All in all, it’s a great gadget, and I am looking forward to using it again. The photo is prior to slicing them.

I’ve always wanted to try making sushi at home, and this kit made it as simple as 1,2,3! The bazooka is tricky at first, but it does perfectly compacted and shaped rolls, and the bamboo mats allow you to just easily wrap the nori around. We made 3-4 different rolls in less than 20 minutes, even the little ones wanted to help and use the “gun” and they looked like the ones we could get at a sushi place!

Its hard to get the exact shape you want to get in the bazooka with the rice, and when it came out it didnt come out like the sushi roll that was pictured.
Also in the instructions it tells you to put it at a 45 degree angle but that is hard when you have both sides filled and when the clips kept falling off every time you closed it.
The first time I did it everything fell out so I just packed everything on one side. That was much easier but it still really didnt come out the way I wanted it to.
I just smooshed it into the mat and made the roll myself. That was much easier.

Taking hungry teenagers to sushi requires a bank loan. Sushi Bazooka was widely panned when it arrived. I never made sushi before, so high odds it would go sideways. Instead, I grabbed a cucumber, radishes from the garden and a soft avocado from store. Added some strips of fresh fish from local fisherman coop, made some eel sauce and mixed in sriracha for heat, along with cream cheese. Added vinegar, plum wine, salt sugar to rice. I coated inside of bazooka with Sesame Oil to add a little savory flavor to rice. One piece each of salmon belly and tuna made six rolls with extra fish. I ground the extra tuna and made spicy crispy tuna squares in the air fryer. $40 bucks worth of fish made $150 worth of restaurant sushi. Couple tips: Don’t over fill bazooka with rice only use 2/3rd length of tube. In prep cut all the roll fillings to uniform strips. For fish I used 1/4 in strips the length of roll. Easier to prep everything first then assemble on clean area. Super fun and everyone was impressed. Product make rolls look super neat.

The picture included is my second attempt at using this sushi RPG, not one to toot my own horn but those looked and tasted amazing, I prefer mine those over an all-you-can-eat sushi place because you get to control portions you want to load a roll with twice the salmon? The only negative thing I would say is, the instructions say 1/2 cup of rice per side that’s WAY too much in my opinion, eyeball, unless you like rice sushi. Also, the knife, I mean obviously it’s not a katana for 20 something bucks for the entire set right? It does the job, just a little bit sharper like 20% would’ve made my life so much easier, but for the price you cannot complain, they didn’t even have to include a knife.
Also the ducks are cute please someone tell me what they’re for?
Somethings I wish someone would’ve told me beforehand:
-Wet a paper towel with vegetable oil and wipe it Everytime so the roll slides out easier.
-Make the pieces big less likely to fall apart and look better too seems obvious to some maybe but I didn’t do that at first.
-“Sushi-grade salmon” complete myth (according to my research) just buy a regular farm salmon freeze it for a week and it should be safe to eat not wild salmon, that will get you salmonella *badum tss*
-Nori can be hard to find in stores, same with sushi rice, e.g. superstore only had one brand of nori, Walmart didn’t even have any!
Conclusion: is it perfect the best of the best, no probably not. Is it the best for the price freak yea it is which is why 5 stars, would recommend.
