About the author

Gilbert (Gib) Hedstrom has over 30 years of experience advising CEOs and board members about how to handle difficult environmental and business challenges. He has reported directly to boards of directors of Fortune 500 companies on over 60 occasions. He is called upon frequently to speak about business risks and opportunities created by environmental, social, and governance trends.
Hedstrom’s latest book, "Sustainability: What It Is and How to Measure It" was published by De Gruyter in November 2018. In 2017, he published Sustainability – A Guide for Boards and C-Suites. Both books are based on his proprietary sustainability rating system available at www.thesustainabilityscorecard.com.
Gib is in constant dialog with sustainability executives of more than 100 of the Fortune 500 companies. He is deputy leader of The Conference Board’s Global Sustainability Centre and serves as program director for three executive councils: Sustainability Council I: Strategy and Implementation; Sustainability Council II: Innovation and Growth; and the Chief Environment, Health and Safety Officers’ Council.
After 20 years at Arthur D. Little, Hedstrom founded Hedstrom Associates in 2004. The firm specializes in business consulting and executive counsel on sustainability, governance, and strategy. His clients have included Accenture, Alcoa, Ashland, Autodesk, Baxter, Boeing, BP, Calvert, Coca-Cola, Conoco, Cytec, Dell, Ford, GE, HP, Kodak, Novartis, Novo Nordisk, Pemex, Raytheon, Shell, Tyco United Technologies, USG, United States Steel, and Waste Management, among many others.
(See www.hedstromassociates.com.)
Hedstrom earned his MBA in corporate strategy and MS in natural resource management from the University of Michigan and a BA in economics and geology from Hamilton College. He serves on the board of the Erb Institute for Global Sustainable Enterprise, University of Michigan.

To the audiences in Hedstrom's title, I would add investors as a relevant group of readers, recommending this book to analysts, asset managers, and private equity investors wondering how to make sense of corporate sustainability strategies in their portfolio.
