From the Author
I have been reading vampire books for well over twenty years, starting with Anne Rice's Interview with the Vampire
and Suzy McKee Charnas's The Vampire Tapestry
. I love the blend of blood and sexuality in Ray Garton's Live Girls
, Poppy Z. Brite's Lost Souls
and Nancy A. Collins's Sunglasses After Dark
; and also in films: The Hunger
, Daughters of Darkness
, Razor Blade Smile
With Suzie and the Monsters
, I wanted to capture that mix of horror and eroticism, and I wanted a protagonist with a dark, ruthless streak, monstrous yet heroic, sexy without being slutty. Unquestionably a vampire, but also human, a woman who has lived, loved and suffered for hundreds of years.
About the Author
Francis James Franklin was born in England, grew up in Edinburgh, Scotland, and lives now in Newcastle upon Tyne with his beautiful wife and daughter. He feels Scottish but can't claim to be so. His claim to Englishness is not very certain either... So he is both, and neither. He enjoys writing, and is interested in unusual human nature, such as non-binary gender and sexuality, or the interplay of dark and light in the transformation of human to vampire.
