The rhyming was way off and forced, i.e. pond and God, around and frown, formations and creations. Words didn't rhyme and the timing was way off. The story could have been much better had it been in prose and not forced to rhyme which left important parts out of the story so that it didn't make sense. For example, how could Suzy and Frost looking at the snow formations they made and realize that they, themselves, are unique? And the fact that they physically looked different is not ". . . what makes each of us special just as God intends." It's not our physical attributes that make us special and I don't want our granddaughters to think that's the case at all.
I found I had to supplement the story for it to make sense to our granddaughters. I was expecting a story as cute as the illustrations as was disappointed. We won't read it again.
Illustrated very colorful children's book about winter and snow.
Love snowflakes and how each one is different. Just the cover captivated my attention along with the penguin on the front.
Suzy notices as it's winter and she's skating with others like her that she is different and prays to God.
She also talks to Frost her friend and together they understand it's OK to be different.
Other books from the author are shown at the end of this one
However, I love the messages within the story - when the main character is confused or hurting she turns to God. She shares God with her friend, as well, which is lovely.
The pictures and the message of the story - it's okay to be different because God created us to be unique - make it worthwhile.
I recommend this for toddlers and up as the message is simple but beautiful and how I want my little girl to learn about the world
