When I opened the bag, the product smelled strongly musty, not the clean dal scent it usually has. While cleaning, a lot of soapy foam had to be washed off. It also left some sediment I had to sieve out. When cooked, the dal had another under-taste not common to urad dal. We cook with different dals, and often, so we are familiar with cleaning, preparing and tasting.
I note that the seller sent me a package labeled 'Spicy World'. The dal was not the "Swad" brand detailed on the product page. I have bought "Swad" brand dal in the past and been very satisfied. I sent the seller feedback but have not heard from them.
