1 Locks both to the car and the arms lock down to secure the bike, I feel very safe and confident leaving my bike on the rack in public.
2 Tilts away from the car so I can get in my hatch.
3 Folds up against the car when it's not in use, getting it out of the way and allowing me to leave it on the car. I didn't want to have to take it off and put it back over and over.
4 The ratchet arm doesn't go on the tire, this was a big one since my bike is a hybrid with fenders that tire securing racks would have damaged.
5 Sturdy, doesn't wobble, it feels solid and my bike doesn't bounce around and I have no concern it will "fall out" or something.
After much debate, I'm very happy with my choice. The quality is very good, and works exactly as advertised. The initial installation is a bit time-consuming, but once completed it's easy to use. It's a cinch to load and unload the bikes. And best of all they feel very snug when they're strapped in. Zero doubts about their safety, and zero banging around after they're loaded. There's some wobble in the hitch but I didn't hear it while driving (2015 Subaru Outback 2.5 Limited w/ factory hitch).
The hitch folds down to allow access to the rear hatch, and folds up reasonably well to get out of the way when not being used.
The one drawback is that it's strikingly heavy, but I feel I've made the right choice for the price point and I would definitely buy it again.
It is easy to take on and off and also to fold down when not in use. The main thing I do not like is how far it sticks out from the hitch even when not in use. Not sure if that depends on the hitch, but I wish it was a little bit closer to the car. Overall, I really like it and for the price, compared to similar racks, I would buy this again.
On my 2015 CRV, I was able to flip the rack down and open the hatch with both mountain bikes on the rack.
Love it so far, just wish the 2" adapter was a little tighter to get rid of the wobble. Would definitely recommend it.
a) Flexibility to use it on both my small sedan 1-1/4" class I receiver as well as my full size truck 2" class IV receiver through the included easy to remove or bolt on adapter.
b) Locking Pin
c) Locking bike hooks
What I would love to have included: Locking mechanisms for tire supports, to add another layer of piece of mind. As the carrier is heavier than expected, when planning to carry my bike several times a week on the same vehicle don't want to constantly remove and install the carrier; this added feature can help deter creative persons from removing the holders (for whatever reason) when parked at public places.
The rack itself is great! I love it because of the locking hitch pin, locking hooks, as well as the folding capabilities. I drive a Honda Civic Hatchback, and can use the back of my car with ease while rack is on. I drove around today with 2 bikes on and it felt incredibly sturdy.
I took a star away due to the instructions (possibly my own ignorance). They make no mention of the locking head going inside the arm that goes into trailer hitch. I eventually used my common sense and figured it out, but a little more detail would have been nice.
All in all...awesome value!
