I have been informed by my co-work that Epsom salt can be used to relax the muscles. I went online and did some wiki researching. I wanted to try and I came to amazon. First, I was not sure what to buy. I bought something prior to this and it only lasted couple weeks. This has much better value/economical. It does not smell like a lavender but does the same job of relaxing me after a long day at work.

I will continue to purchase this in the future until something better comes along.

I was a runner beginning in 1980. After running more miles than the circumference of the Earth, including 11 marathons, I began experiencing chronically sore ankles. Ultimately, I stopped running in 2003. It was just too uncomfortable. I was talking to a runner friend about the problem. He's a guy who enjoys 100-mile runs and has even competed in the Badwater 135. In any case, he expressed his condolences and suggested that I try soaking my feet/ankles in a solution of Epsom Salt. Well, this is one of those old folk-tale remedies, but if a guy that runs 100-mile races says to try it, I'll try it.

I picked up a box of Swan Epsom Salt at my local grocery store. It wasn't very expensive. It came in what looked like a two-quart milk carton. The usage instructions were imprinted on one side of the carton. I mixed the epsom salt (magnesium sulfate) with hot water and soaked my feet/ankles in a hot water solution. I tend to be skeptical about such magical "cures," I should add. Well, it wasn't a cure, but my feet and ankles felt better. It provided a little bit of welcome relief. I intend to do it again and again.

These are your regular epsom salts, and are nicely packaged (watch when you cut the top, as you can get the "closure" side in with the cut!).

However, one can pick up the same quality/quantity for 1/4 the price at your local Walmart's or grocer. One instance when it pays to shop locally.

I added to the bath for sore muscles and it works pretty good, def.loosens them up and makes you feel good for a little while afterwards. I also was using to trim inches off the waste with soaking but it didn't work. The bath did make me feel extremely calm and relaxed. It was a great value for the price and was very finely ground which makes it great for dissolving fast. If your buying for slimming around the waste it doesn't work. I tried three times soaking for 20 minutes each time for 2 weeks.

I have an elderly aunt with chronic pain. I kept telling her to try the foot soak recipe I learned here on Amazon: 1 cup Epsom salts plus 1/4 cup baking soda in hot water for one hour. This works great for me in easing my feet and ankle pains.

She never bought the Epsom salt or had someone buy it for her and so ... sometimes you have to mail salt.

She is now doing the soak, although she thinks 15 minutes is long enough. Sometimes, you just have to mail salt.

If you do the soak, please do it for an hour.

I give this epsom salt 3 stars because I don't know if it's defective or if it's operator error. I purchased this epsom salt to try out a foot soak recipe I ran across on Pinterest. It was definitely a fail, but like I said before, there are different variables that went into it so I can't definitively narrow it down to the epsom salt.
The recipe included blue Listerine mouthwash and I'm not sure if it had anything else in it. You were to mix them both in a bowl and submerge your feet in the mixture for a length of time which I did. However, unlike the photos and directions showed, my feet were the same after as they were before soaking them in said mixture.
I was slightly disappointed, but also had to laugh at another one of my Pinterest fails at work!

Bought this for my daughter and she thought it was good epsom salt. Melts quickly in the water. Highly recommend and will buy again.

And shipping. What is not to like? We mix it with essential oils and use it as bath salts. Totally worth it!
