Took this supplement to get me through NURSING SCHOOL. I've always had trouble with reading and focusing on the words. I've tried diet: salmon, blueberries, walnuts, etc. to help maintain an optimal cerebral function with little success. I've tried other supplements such as fish oil, krill oil and l-theanine. Krill oil does help to a degree, but not on the level of phosphatidyleserine. I'm taking 300 mg daily. I've been able to focus on my reading more efficiently and my ability to pick up on details has also improved. Don't get me wrong; it's not a miracle drug. You can't just pop it in your mouth and expect results. It's a supplement which means it takes time and it won't be drastically noticeable. Give it 3 months of constant use and give it 100% on your studies and you'll notice a difference. I checked it out on our drug guide we use at the hospital (micromedex) for updated information on safety issues and side effects and it's only listed as a "cognitive enhancer." There are no adverse side effects as of now, and I plan to check up on it daily.
It's listed on reputable medical websites such as WEBMD as insufficient evidence and needs further research for enhanced cognitive functioning because this is plant derived. I would say, However, from experience that I did stop taking it for a week to compare how I feel and perform versus being on the pill and noticed a great big difference.
So would I recommend it? Definitely. However, if you're expecting on taking this supplement and going from a Honda Civic to a Lamborghini, then you'll be disappointed. The best way I can describe taking this supplement is like getting your car washed and getting new tires. It's still the same car, but you'll be able to see better and drive more smoothly in how you think and perform cognitively.
