From the Author
Thanks for taking a look at SWASH! Here's a little more about it:
Probably the most family-friendly of all my works, SWASH! takes place on a small chunk of land off Cape Cod, Massachusetts, where fourteen-year-old Chris Duggan stumbles upon the remains of an ancient shipwreck. Home-schooled due to the town's isolation and an overprotective mother, included among Chris's tutors are townspeople BARNEY ZIMMERMAN, the retired CEO of a furniture store, and ARTHUR COBB, a retired professor.
When Chris learns that thieves are about to steal the wreck, he does what he can to stop it, only to discover that the ship was the famed pirate vessel, LADY GRACE, and the long dead pirates who once sailed it have come back to claim it as their own. Thus begins a marvelous and magical summer.
Though Chris and the pirates become friends, he soon realizes the pirates must be sent back home, and he and his summer crush SARAH BICKERSTAFF work together to solve the curse that brought them there. When he learns that the ship must be rebuilt in order to get them back where they belong, he gets the whole town involved.
At any rate, there's a whole lot more. Inside the book you'll find pirate treasure and corporate shenanigans, raids on Walmart, and a somewhat befuddled police sergeant who does his best to put the odd pieces together. With the heart of Christopher Moore and a Willy Wonka ending, I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it.

I think the police officer could have been more involved he always just seemed to be on the edge and we hardly got to know the young lads mother. Nevertheless there were ample characters to follow.
This is the first book I've read by Myers. I read it in two days and it would have been quicker if I didn't have to put it down and go to work. I immediately bought two of his other books, which I can't wait to start. If you like a book that lets you escape from your everyday life, yet is believable and earnest...you're in for a real treat, here.
It centers around Chris, a likable teenager, who makes a pretty big find on the beach of his town that changes his summer, at the very least.
Myers has written some great characters and scenes, something for which I was more than willing to suspend my disbelief in the interest of a good tale.
The writing is pretty crisp and the story sails along and is all knotted up in the end fairly neatly. It was a great way to spend a few hours.
