Perhaps since every other woman he's encountered over those falls short of his ideal, maybe his subconscious has been trying to tell him something all along.
Now, thanks to a little meddling from his family, Ellie Pagan has been thrust back into his life, and even though she's ready willing and able to freely throw words like 'hate' around, Ford's fought wars, surely fighting to win her back can't be that hard?
I've loved every single book in Adriana Locke's Landry Family series, yet to my mind, they just keep getting better and better.
Written as a standalone, Ford and Ellie's dual point of view story nevertheless builds upon the shared history established in the previous novels of the series, making it all the richer for those who've read them, but even foregoing that, i'd suggest that it's a great read.
One thing I loved was that, for a second chance romance, Swear avoids many of the tried and true tropes common to that sub-genre. Ford and Ellie burst forth from the page as fully realized characters each with their own agendas, and more importantly, at different stages in their lives, with Ford finally ready to settle down and Ellie? Not so much. Just when I'd get an inkling about where the story was going to go next, Adriana would change things up and surprise me.
Combing elements of humor and drama and all the emotions that come with lives beginning, ending and becoming entwined, this felt like the perfect way to round out the boys of the Landry family, and had me feeling all the feels.
Can't wait so see what's in store for the two youngest Landry's
I like my men alpha, don't get me wrong, but there's not a whole lot likable about Ford, and Ellie is so spineless - is she mad at him or not? She's totally rude to him almost every conversation they have, yet she can't resist his touch?
Also, on a side note, I am listening to this on Audible, and I think it's a mistake to have the same two narrators read all the stories. The voices are all the same, is this Linc and Dani? Graham and Mallory? Ford and Ellie? There's almost no difference (except for Linc's off and on Southern accent). I wouldn't read another story in this series. There's just not enough variance, the drama seems forced, the women are weak, and the men are kind of jerks.
Ford is a man that left after high school and enrolled in the Armed Services. He comes from a family of high achievers and he has nothing to offer so he went to serve his country. He left his high school sweetheart behind and didn't look back. He has never found "The One" but he's been looking since he's now ready to settle down.
Ellie is a woman with a large heartbreak. She has tried to continue her life after Ford dumped her. She is starting a business with her best friend when Ford walks back in her life. She wants to hate him since he caused her so much hurt. She only has her father left in her family so she's lonely to an extent but can she keep Ford out of her life.
I have to admit I struggled with the beginning of this book. I had a really hard time getting into Ford and Ellie’s story. I’m not sure why, but by the end I loved them as much as the past couples.
This book was slightly different than the previous books. Ellie and Ford have history, they dated exclusively in high school. So this is their second chance.
After returning from two tours in the military Ford has finally set up his own security company. When his brother sends him to meet up with a potential new client, he’s shocked and surprised to find his first love Ellie.
Only she is not nearly as happy to see him as he is to see her. The last time she saw Ford, was when he walked away from her ten years earlier, to “find himself”.
Ford looks at this unexpected reunion as a chance to start over, Ellie sees it as just another lame excuse for him to try to apologize.
I loved seeing seeing the past couples moving forward with their lives. Lincoln was, as always, hilarious. There was a birth, a death, a couple of engagements a wedding, and a few more surprises along the way.
Like I said, this story started out slow for me, but it did pick up about halfway through. I had a hard time understanding Ellie’s grudge against Ford. They were two teenage kids, who broke up. And she held that against him for ten years, using it keep him at a distance.
It was a bit more predictable than the earlier books but , overall I really liked it.
Ellie Pagan is just getting her life together. Starting a new business with her friend and spending time with her dad. But what happens when her past comes back into her life and refuses to be ignored?
Ford Landry knows her made a mistake. He was young and dumb. When his family presents an opportunity to get back the love of his life, still be jump on the chance?
Ellie fights the ultimate battle - between head and heart. She wants Ford but doesn't know if she can trust him. Can Ford show her that he will stop at nothing to give her everything? Read Swear to find out!

This is the fourth in the Landry family series and in my opinion the best one. The series can be separately but I would recommend reading them in order.
This is a beautifully written story about 2 lost loves being reunited, although not everything goes to plan.
I would recommend the whole series, you won’t regret it
Swear is a beautifully written second chance story, that tugs on your heartstrings. Ford and Ellie are such great, strong characters, and you can feel the love between them. I really enjoyed watching their relationship grow, and overcome Ellie's fears of him leaving. Ford is so understanding, patient and sweet with Ellie, and won't give up proving his love for her.
This book is well written and easy to read. It full of romance, heartbreak and tears, and a lot of laughter.
Adriana Locke has written such a amazing series with Landrys. It has become one of my favourite. They are all such different people, with very different story's to tell, yet they are all so close and supportive of one another, and I love reading about them. I can't wait to read Camillas story.
