consumable product, and knowing how things are these days I do not feel
safe eating any of these.
> So Sweet Stevia is the least expensive stevia tablets sold by Amzn. It's the least expensive primarily because it is sold as 3 100-tablet packettes.
> Apparently shipped from overseas (probably China), took 6 or 7 weeks to arrive. I ordered it for a 2-week European cruise (most Europeans have no idea what stevia is, and even splenda is hard to find), but the So Sweet Stevia didn't arrive until a week after I returned. So, I recommend ordering far in advance.
COMPARED TO STEVIA IN THE RAW
> The individual tablets and the packets of So Sweet Stevia are approximately twice the size of Stevia in the Raw, even though the packets are both 100 tablets each.
> The tablets of So Sweet Stevia dissolve faster (at least in warm liquids) than do the tablets of Stevia in the Raw. That's even though the Stevia in the Raw is mostly baking soda, designed to enhance dissolution.
> The tablets of So Sweet Stevia appear to be less fragile than Stevia in the Raw. Packets of Stevia in the Raw seem to be mostly fragments of tablets and powder. Presumably the friable texture of Stevia in the Raw is intended to enhance dissolution, yet So Sweet Stevia dissolves faster (in warm liquids).
> The Stevia in the Raw container is actually a nice little dispenser --- depress the "trigger" and a tablet or several fragments, or an equal volume of powder, falls out the bottom -- very handy. The dispenser is also almost essential because the tablets themselves are so tiny that they aren't easy to deal with (at least man-size) fingers. I like the small size of the dispenser, and not having to shake out the tablets in my hand (or a table top) and then transfer the tablets to my coffee.
> So Sweet Stevia tastes like stevia. Stevia in the Raw has a weird taste, because the tablets are mostly baking soda and citric acid (apparently intended to counteract the flavor of the baking soda) --- yet I adjusted to the flavor of Stevia in the Raw quickly, and, once adjusted, liked the flavor.
COMMENTS AND CAVEATS
> When traveling, I used about 20 tablets of Stevia in the Raw per day, in several cups of coffee and evening tea. So, a 100 tablet pack was about a 5 day supply. So, if you are ordering for travel, order plenty.
> Perhaps Stevia in the Raw dissolves better in cold beverages than So Sweet Stevia --- but I've never tried it in cold beverages.
> The comparatively much larger size of So Sweet Stevia tablets implies the use of fillers. The much smaller size of Stevia in the Raw tables, implies much purer stevia (especially considering that the tablets are mostly baking soda and citric acid). Baking soda and citric acid are harmless -- I'm not so sure about the fillers used in most stevia products.
> The small size of of the Stevia in the Raw dispenser makes it much easier to carry in a man's pants pocket, or in a woman's small purse. The rounded corners are less likely to get caught or otherwise get in the way.
