I read this book in one sitting.I was captured by the dilimea of each character. The author draws you in and keeps you guessing the truth til the very end.The story is told form two points of view from two girls from two different worlds.
Naminé lives in a kingdom ruled by a false king. She has a gift she must hide from everyone to keep from being imprisoned. But this gift is the only chance of hope to save her people. Can she reach through in time?
Nariella lives with the guilt of her mother's death,in a home with her abusive stepfather,is an outcast at school, and only has one friend,Rydan.Nari must start the school year alone as Rydan's parents have chosen to send him to a school for gifted musicians. Mycah is the definition of hottie. He strolls into school and Nari's life throwing it into chaos.
Nari goes through so much with very few answers as to why things are happening that its a wonder she doesn't fall apart or go insane with curiosity because I know I sure wanted to.There is a glimpse here and there of the truth you just have to put all the pieces together like a jigsaw puzzle. Nari must try keep the peace between Mycah and Rydan while trying not to betray either one but with every new event it becomes harder. Nari,Mycah and Rydan's worlds collide into a gripping tale.
Oh my goodness, the truths that are revealed, the hardships they face, and that ending were mind blowing! Another sleepless night reading the Sweet Series,I couldn't stop.I had to know if they would succeed. At one point I was just as confused about Mycah's actions as was Nari(I mean this in a good way because that is what the author is trying to portray). I felt for what Nari was going through but I have to say when she puts her mind to it she can kick~but. While one relationship blossoms another is on the rocks. Namine is desperately trying to do her part to save her people but there is only so much she can do under the watchful eye of the False King. Their lives are in danger now than it ever was on Earth.Four teens must find out who they really are and what side they are going to take in a waging war that can only be stopped by the True King,Mycah.
My heart is still beating wildly with anxiety for these beloved characters. Sweet Requiem grabbed my heart from the very beginning and held on to it til the very end. There was never a dull moment with the non-stop action. The story was woven beautifully leaving me even more in love with The Sweet Series than I already was. Mrs.Ardisone has taken her love for all things Lord of the Rings and created her very own world that is as captivating as J.R.R. Tolkien's. Step in to a magical world of Elves hidden in a realm away from Earthly eyes. But just because it's hidden some humans believe stories of old that tell of such a place. And these ruthless humans will go to any lengths to find a way into this secret realm, including lie, steal, kidnap, and even murder.Though the Black Eagles are a scary force that Mycah,Rydan,Namine,Nari,Ender, and Zaylie must fight, they aren't the only ones who want them dead.Nari finds herself stuck between two groups of Elda who want nothing more than to eliminate her from because her very existence is considered an abomination to both races of Elda blood that run through her veins. Now she must decide if she's going take her chances in the Earthly realm praying what ever is plaguing her body will eventually right itself or follow her friends who she loves dearly back into their world to help restore Remycah as the rightful king and defeat King Ohtar before all hope is gone and his kingdom is lost to the evil ravaging it's land at an alarming rate.Lives will be lost, hearts broken, and decisions made that will determine the future for all kingdoms.Join our friends on an adventure of a lifetime that will capture you heart and mind.I am anxiously awaiting book #4 Sweet Redemption!!!!
I don't even know where to begin! This book was just so FREAKING DOUBLE OVER THE TOP AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The first thing that drew my attention to the book was the title and cover. I mean seriously, that is an insanely gorgeous cover, and I just fell in love with it. I am still having a hard time deciding what I love more: the cover or the actual story? It's so hard to choose!
But moving on, this was truly a unique story and the alternating view points between the two characters, Nariella and Namine, both from two very different worlds was just extra awesome sauce on an already awesome story.
I'll be honest, and say that at times (very, very, very rarely), Nariella kind of annoyed me because she was very emotional and she cried often, but only when it got to a point where she could no longer keep a hold on her emotions. In most cases, any character that's just too overemotional and cries at every little thing would seriously annoy me, but in Nari's case, I totally understood her emotions, and was okay with her crying so much. She was abused both physically and mentally since she was just six years old, that too by her foster father who was a drunk and blamed her for the death of his loving and caring wife, which Nari had unintentionally and accidentally caused. She has been alone ever since, with the exception of her one best friend- Rydan. She had also been bullied in school because she was different and had purple eyes. My heart just went out to Nari. I just loved Nari, even after everything she went through, she was still so strong and managed to find happiness in the things she loved, despite the darkness that surrounded her life.
Mycah was his swoon worthy and caring, yet dark and mysterious self throughout most of this book, and I loved him for that. He was the perfect blend of everything that you would want in a supernatural boyfriend. His character was described and written very nicely throughout the entire book. I wish I could say the same about Rydan, but unfortunately, Rydan's character was very secretive. And although I would have liked to know a little bit more about him, I am happy with the way his character was written because it was one of the major things that made me want to continue reading the story. The whole mystery with Rydan was pretty interesting and cool, but I am hoping to get to know him a little better, and understand his character more in the next book.
Overall, this book had the perfect amount of action, suspense, mystery, romance, and it was just perfect! The pacing of the story wasn't too fast or slow. Bailey Ardisone is one of my favorite authors, and I just love her writing style, characters, and the ability to create such unique stories! You all have to read this book, it's one of the best and one of my top favorites. Plus this book is free, so you have nothing to loose! I loved this book and can't wait to read the next one!
As with the first in this series, Sweet Oblivion, this book was just as fantastic! I loved every moment of it and stayed glued to the pages until the end.
This story picked up a week after where it left of in the first book. I really enjoyed reading about Nari's journey through Lunil and how she slowly discovered the truth about herself. I loved the way that she handled all the tough situations and problems that were thrown her away, and learned from them. Namine's story was equally as great, and her determination to help save her kingdom was just really amazing. Even in the toughest situations, she continued to remain strong and unwavering in her determination to help good win over evil. It was fun reading their alternate point of views, and being able to see what was going on with each one of my favorite characters.
All the main characters in this book, Nari, Namine, Rydan, and Mych, they are honestly some of the best characters I have ever read about. I loved their unique personalities, and how every one of them seemed to have matured and grew in this book, compared to how they started out in the beginning of the first book. The relationship Nari and Mych shares is without doubt very passionate, intense, and just beautiful. As for Rydan and Namine, their relationship continues to grow at a much more slower pace, but it's equally as beautiful. However, my favorite was the relationship between Rydan and Nari. They are just so adorable together, and it's very obvious that they are best friends. I love the way that Rydan's always there for Nari and treats her like a younger sister, and how she treats him like a brother. Even though I love Nari and Mych, I have to say that I love Rydan & Nari's relationship just as much.
The overall main plot obviously isn't resolved in this book, since there are still more books in this series. However, the subplots were very nicely written and interesting. There were so many twists and turns in this book that it was almost impossible for me to put it down for even one moment!
There honestly isn't any words to describe how much I have fallen in love with this awesome series. This series and this book continues to be one of the best that I have ever read. I love the world of Lunil that Ms. Ardisone has created, but mostly I love the characters in this book.
I highly recommend reading this series. Plus, the first book, Sweet Oblivion, is free wherever ebooks are sold. If you haven't read it yet, you really should because this is one of the best paranormal fantasy series ever, and if you are a fan of this genre, then the Sweet Series is definitely a must read for you.
You know, I didn't think that I could love this series more than I already did but apparently I was wrong. Every book I continue to read just makes me fall more and more in love with this story and all it's amazing characters! Sweet Requiem was one heck of a roller coaster ride and I loved every single second of it!
It jumped into action right from the beginning, and never ceased in keeping me hooked until the absolute last word. This book had a lot of twists and turns, and it was very hard for me to put it down for even one minute. I loved the fact that from the moment I started reading to the very end, I felt like I was right there in Nari and Namine's world. It was also really nice seeing all my favorite characters as they continued to grow throughout this book as well.
I am not going to go into details and talk about the characters, because if I started, I'd never be able finish gushing over just how amazing they are. Just know that if you didn't already love Mych more than you thought was possible, you will fall head over heels in love with him in this book. I already thought he was perfect in the last two books, but this book...he blew me away with his loyalty and love for Nari. He is so sweet and caring, it's no wonder that Nariella can't resist him. It's not just him though, all the characters were absolutely fabulous and you are sure to fall in love with them from the minute you start reading.
As with the previous books in the series, I really enjoyed the continued storyline. It was filled with so many twists and turns, and left me anxious to find out what would happen next. This book was almost non stop action, with a nice dose of romance and a hint of humor mixed into it, which made it a super over the top freaking amazing book! Everything was so beautifully written, and this story was just perfect. Of course, the cliffhanger at the end was a torture to deal with until I was finally able to read the next book, but nevertheless, I loved it!
If your into paranormal fantasy, I really recommend reading this series. Seriously, this is an amazing series and it will blow you away! And also, the first book, Sweet Oblivion, is free wherever ebooks are sold, so you can get started on it right away!
***A huge thank you to Ms. Ardisone for giving me a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review*** :)
After that cliffhanger in the last book, I had been dying to read this book. But I was also dreading it because this is the last book in this wonderful series I have fallen in love with. Sweet Redemption picks up a couple days from where the story left off in Sweet Requiem. I was back in Nari's world from the minute I started reading and everything from that point on was just perfection!
I loved Nari the most in this book. She manages to become stronger, braver, and more courageous than ever in this book, while still being the self conscious, caring, and sarcastic person she is. And Mych, he continues to surprise me by just how awesome he is. I am amazed by just how much all these characters have grown! All of them, Nari, Mych, Namine, and Rydan, they were just so amazing. They were all brave, and fierce in their own ways while also being very sweet, caring, and every one of them had a vulnerable side as well, which really brought these characters to life.
This story was written so beautifully, it felt like I was right there along with all these characters. This book, as with all the other books in this series, was full of new twists and turns. It really focused on the overall main plot of trying to save the kingdom, and defeating Ohtar. The romance aspect was still there, but I loved the fact that it didn't dominate the entire story. It was a big part of the story but the main focus wasn't just on the romance. It focused on the characters, how they grew throughout, and the various plots in this book. Honestly, this book was just absolutely perfect!
I LOVED this book, and not only this book but this entire series! This is the first ever series as far as I remember, where all the books are equally as great and amazing as the book(s) before it, if not more. Every single book I have read in this series were just so over the top awesome, that I had no other choice but to give them a rating of five out of five. I think this is the first ever time where I have rated every single book in a series a five, so that should tell you just how much I love this series!
Normally, I'd be crying over the fact that this was the last book in this series, but because the ending of this book, or rather this series, was so perfect and better than how I imagined the perfect ending to be, I am nothing but absolutely happy about it and for all my favorite characters. They really deserved it. Although, I have to say that I wouldn't mind reading more about them and seeing what they are up to in the future, perhaps in a short novella or something like that *hint hint*. ;)
So basically, if you haven't already known from my long ranting above, this book was just fabulous! I loved every second reading it, and didn't want it to end. I loved this series, and am literally forcing myself to not go and re-read it immediately. This series is definitely a must read if you are into paranormal fantasy, and the first book in this series, Sweet Oblivion, is free wherever ebooks are sold, so you can start reading it right away!
