Regency Short Stories:
Anonymous Love Notes: Maria Lucas sends notes to various men and women to bring them together…notes NOT with her signature.
Lament of My Heart: George Knightley’s post ball thoughts about Emma.
A Christmas Ball: “A what-if story exploring what could have happened if Mr. Bingley had returned to Hertfordshire instead of remaining in London.”
One More Kiss: Crying as I read this melancholy view of an elderly Darcy sitting by his dear departed’s plague in the chapel reciting from the Song of Solomon…now sobbing!
Modern Short Stories:
A Memorable First Kiss: Mary Bennet has a moment, sweet and memorable after a party game with her sisters and male friends.
Once upon a Spring: Lizzy tells her children, while getting ready for a weekend escape, the story of how she and their father met.
Interspersed among these very short stories are first a letter written from Darcy to Georgiana, then a letter from Knightley to Emma, one from Elizabeth to Jane re: Collins attending his bee hives, and now tweets between friends, sisters and an acquaintance about blind dates and attendance at parties which becomes texts in the next interlude between Elizabeth (HikerBikerGirl) and Darcy (BigBadD).
Bonus Book: Captain’s Log Chapter I: Sailing the High Seas Chapter II: The Jolly Band of Cousins = I read this separately and wrote a review so will not review this again.
If you love JAFF and the inventiveness of the authors today, you will absolutely LOVE this compilation! I know I did!
Each story is a little glimpse into the lives of Jane Austen's characters. Some regency and some modern. Most with Pride & prejudice characters and one with the characters from Emma. I truly enjoyed every one of them!
There is a novella at the end that was just wonderful! I really think this author is heading in a fantastic direction and I can't wait to read more of her work. She lets the people have fun, be serious and be themselves. There were either letters or something similarly interesting in between the short stories, but my absolute favorite were the "tweets" from Jane, Charles & Elizabeth! The twitter handles and the actual tweets were well done!!
I highly recommend this book of short stories!
I received a copy of this title in exchange for my honest review
