Angie loves her bakeshop and truly feels thrilled to live in Sweet Cove, MA. Her sister, Jenny is helping her out as well as other employees like Lisa another recent transplant to the town.
This series has smart ladies, smarter animals, interesting town characters, and a hint of psychic abilities to come. All these combine to make a marvelous murder mystery to be solved. The action scene are incredible and do get you caught up in them...but this is a cozy and is respected as such.
I highly enjoyed this book and admit that I've already read the 2nd and 3rd and they are getting better each novel.
There is nothing wrong with this book at all, but then there is very little of substance. Just as the title implies, it is sweet and not much more. The most amusing part of the story is how three completely ditzy girls manage to solve a murder while the town's avuncular police chief, along with a mean and menacing detective, get nowhere. It makes you despair of modern policing......
If you like Murder She Wrote and Nancy Drew you would love this. But I'm afraid 'cozy mysteries' are not my genre.
If you are looking for a quick read, this would be a good choice. The sisters were likable enough and there is the possibility of romance for two of them. I did figure out "whodunnit" fairly early in the book, although I didn't figure out how the murder was accomplished and I felt the motive was pretty thin. There are several more books in the series which I will read as I come across them.
Twenty-seven year old Angie Roseland opened her Sweet Dreams Bake Shop in Sweet Cove, Massachusetts only a year ago. Angie's building was now being sold to new owners and her lease would not be renewed so she needed to find a new location for her shop as soon as possible.
Elderly Professor Marion Linden was a regular morning customer at the bake shop. She owned an 18 room Victorian mansion right around the corner. One morning she suddenly collapsed and died in front of her home, and the police discover that she had been poisoned. Much to Angie's shock and astonishment, Professor Linden bequeathed the mansion to Angie in her will and this made her a prime suspect in the murder.
It is a murder in a small town they live in. The sisters, Angie, Jenna, Ellie, and Courtney are very close and when Angie the oldest sister is left a Victorian house all girls think they can run their small businesses out of the house and live together as well!
The house is left to Angie by the professor who is the murder victim. Angie is all set to find the killer to take the spotlight off her.
The story kept my attention right to the end! It is a nice fast read and there are 13 in the series that I purchased this morning, so I am looking to reading them all and in the way they were written.
