Sterling Abbott knows all about Emmalyn and created a plan to destroy her. To expose all her lies once and for all. But what happens if she’s telling the truth?
Falling into Sweet Little Nothing, Sterling and Emmy’s story had me devouring every page, my heart breaking for Emmy’s history but swooning just as hard when Sterling starts questioning where his loyalty lies. Grab the tissues and a fire extinguisher because, guaranteed, you’re going to need both.
The character development wasn't there. So when the male character falls for the woman, I straight up got whiplash. Then kept getting it til the book was over. It was just too unrealistic and oversimplified. And he was in stark contrast to his own character, so it never felt right.
Anyway, not a bad book, just not something I'll remember in a week.
Once Emmy accuses someone of the unthinkable she is immediately made into a liar. No one believes her. She decides to leave her town for a fresh start at a new college. Unfortunately, that college also holds someone from her past that wants to make her paid for her lies.
Sterling wants Emmy to admit she lied regarding his best friend. He does everything in his power to break her. There is always 2 sides to a story and Sterling is about to learn about both of those sides.
I had a love hate relationship with Sterling. I hated...then loved....then hated...then loved him. He's a smooth talker. Girls would fall at his feet with the things he says.
Emmy my heart broke for this girl. She suffered so much. She spent most of that suffering alone. I really wanted Sterling to get a reality check.
This book deserves way more then 5 stars. Everything flowed together perfectly. You will fall for each of these characters.
The trigger warnings are abundant. Maybe it was too close to home for me but the re-victimization in this book was too much, despite the way things turned around.
So she comes to Central Valley with hope for a better future and with the shadow of her past haunting her.
Things start out full of promise when she meets her new suite mate, Stella and runs (literally) into Gabe while she is exploring campus. She finds herself with three new buds; Stella, Gabe, and his boyfriend, Zach. And so far almost everyone has been so nice.
Except that shadow haunting her? It becomes personified by someone she did not expect to see. And he is determined to punish her for her lies and deception that ruined his best friend's life. Sterling is her worst nightmare invading her new future. And to make it even worse? He's her TA for a class she has to have for her degree. And he sets his sites on destroying her as soon as he sees her.
With Stella, Gabe, and Zach's encouragement, she keeps trying to move forward on her new path but Sterling is determined to disrupt that journey as much as he can.
As a child, she saw him as a white knight. But he has shown himself to be the devil.
But as Sterling tries to break her, he finds himself starting to see not only the cracks in his life long best friend, but also starts to see that perhaps he was wrong about Emmy. He certainly is finding it hard to deny his attraction to her. Or hers to him, although she isn't quite sure she can trust anything from him.
He may have planned to exact revenge for is bestie, but he finds himself realizing that he believed the wrong party. He finds himself trying to fix things, after he set the ball rolling to ruin her life, because he has the blinders ripped from his eyes and realizes his 'friend' is a lying sociopath.
This book as the thread of optimism that runs through everything LK writes. But it also has darkness before the light. Sterling redeems himself as he comes to the realization that he was wrong. As he starts to regret hurting Emmy and tries to course correct for the error of his ways.
This books has the feels, the heat, the humor, the hope, a little drama, the bad guys getting what is coming to them, and two people finding each other for a very happily ever after! Oh and three new friends who give us a little lightness in the dark. Can't wait for Stella's book!!
I received a review copy. I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

The subject is really well thought out and highlights the suffering in silence really well.
It was a good read, I can’t say enjoy as the subject matter couldn’t be further from it. I would just say buy it

This book didn't hold back. I read it in one sitting, unable to put it down. It hooked me in from the first page, and didn't let up. It was well written and drew out a lot of emotions.
I loved Sterling and Emmy and the side characters. I do wish there could have been some resolution with the parents, but besides that, I very much enjoyed the book and would definitely recommend it.
Emmalyn my god what horror that girl went through, Rob is a monster no other name for it he's a sick twisted monster, and sterling omg i wanted to hate him honestly but I fell for him hook line and sinker especially once he realised who was the real liar he made me laugh and I just wanted to hug him.
Nothing beats a sad romance than a happily ever after
