From Booklist

This Sweet Evil (2012) sequel finds Anna Whitt—half fallen angel and half guardian angel—missing her true love Kaidan and longing to escape her dark-angel obligations of leading humans to substance abuse. Discovering a prophecy that, when fulfilled, may rid Earth of demons, she and friend Kope travel the world seeking Nephilim allies. However, avoiding personal temptations—including Kai—and keeping the mission secret from the fallen-angel powers is getting harder and further endangering Anna and her loved ones. With suspense, steamy romance, an appealing contemporary teen protagonist, and a lively cast, this continues to be an enjoyable, absorbing genre read, and it will leave series followers anticipating the next installment. Grades 10-12. --Shelle Rosenfeld

From the Back Cover

Embrace Your Destiny

Anna Whitt, daughter of a guardian angel and a fallen one, promised herself she'd never do the work of her father—polluting souls. She'd been naive to make such a claim. She'd been naive about a lot of things.

Haunted by demon whisperers, Anna does whatever she can to survive, even if it means embracing her dark side and earning an unwanted reputation as her school's party girl. And all the while there's Kaidan Rowe, son of the Duke of Lust, plaguing her heart and mind.

When an unexpected lost message from the angels surfaces, Anna finds herself traveling the globe with Kopano, son of the Duke of Wrath, in an attempt to gain support of fellow Nephilim and give them hope for the first time. It soon becomes clear that whatever freedoms Anna and the rest of the Neph are hoping to win will not be gained without a fight. Until then, Anna and Kaidan must put aside the issues between them, overcome the steamiest of temptations yet, and face the ultimate question: Is loving someone worth risking your life?

It's book two in a trilogy, and you know what that means? The hero and heroine are going to separated for some reason, right? It seems like that is what happens in every single trilogy I read ... I fall in love with a couple, only to have them fall apart for much of the second book until they finally find a way to make it work in book three. It can be heart-wrenching at times. Well, before beginning Sweet Peril I was worried for sweet Anna and her bad-boy (sort of) love, Kaidan. There didn't seem to be any way for these two to be together in the crazy world in which they live, and Kaidan seemed determined to not allow his heart to guide both of them to certain destruction. So he left. And that is how Sweet Peril begins. Kaidan is all the way across the country in LA. Months have passed, but Anna is still in love with him and in a definite funk. With legionnaires watching her moves much more closely after the events at the end of the first book, Anna throws herself into her work as a drinking tempter. She goes from being known as the good girl to being known as the party girl. She has changed. Sort of. The reality is that she is still the good girl she has always been, but she is trying to make things work in a world where she is required to at least appear like she is tempting the people around her to drink alcohol. Seeing Anna like this was a little sad for me. I felt like part of her was being destroyed each time she worked for the Dukes to bring others down. I think that Kaidan agrees.

To all of you Kaidan fans out there ... be aware that he is not around for much of the first half of the book. When he is, it is awesome, but for most of the first half of the book Anna is sent on missions with Kopano.

An incredibly enthralling and wickedly delicious sequel, SWEET PERIL takes readers on an emotional roller coaster ride that will leave them breathless. Full of surprises and heart-stopping thrills, this second book in the series turns up the heat, ratchets up the danger and intensifies the chemistry between its characters, making this installment an even more electrifying and riveting read than its predecessor.

With the Dukes still on edge, Anna Whitt has been playing the role she needs to play in order to keep their suspicions at bay. She's also been keeping her distance from Kaidan Rowe, a challenge that makes pretending to be a party girl look easy.

But when she learns of a prophecy that allows for the possibility that someday the Nephilim could finally be free, she is eager to make that possibility a reality.

Finding allies willing to stand with her against the Dukes is a huge risk, but one she's prepared to take if it means that there could be a future for her and Kai. It's a task that requires time and an enormous amount of patience. Because tracking down Neph that can be trusted is not something she can do on her own. Not if she wants to stay off the Dukes' radar.

Which means she'll have to enlist the help of her father, Belial. She'll have to work closely with Kopano, the only other Neph whose father won't be keeping a close watch.

And she'll have to deal with the fact that doing this on her own, without Kai, could increase the distance between them, a distance made up of much more than just miles.

Author Wendy Higgins knows just how to captivate readers and draw them into her wonderfully dark and incredibly suspenseful story. She builds on the existing tension between her two main characters.

Sweet Peril is amazing! Fast paced full with romance and killer demon trouble. An exciting sequel to Sweet Evil.

Wendy has been working hard lately, trying to keep up her appearance. Right now, everyone has to work hard, since they are being watched.

Once things have settled a little things start to heat up! First the nun comes by as a spirit to talk to Ann. After the message has been told, Ann quickly rings her dad. Once he arrives they talk and make a plan. Anna and her Neph allies will fight back. Anna has the ability to destroy all these demons. The message told by nun mentioned that once Ann destroys one there is a choice. Either they are given a second chance to heaven or they go straight to hell. So Anna's dad may get the chance to be with his love again. You know whats even better? If they are all gone they are free!! Whoop whoop, there is more but I'll keep that to myself.

Anna and Kapono are off on adventures to get other Neph as allies. They manage to get a few on their side, which is good. Of course Kai and Blake are joining them. Speaking of Kai, he and Anna become something!!!!!!! Ekkkk I want to say so much, but how do I say it without spoiling it all!? Well lets just say when Anna and Kai become BFGF it's sooo cute and funny. Just getting Kai to say it in the book is fun.

In the book Kai and Kapono go on a mission together. You can only imagine how this is gonna be, after reading about these three. Tension, suspense, and oh yeas the romance!! Sweet Peril has everything we have been dying to read since book one ended. Now I can't wait for the next book. I neeeeeed more Kai and Anna, and finding out what will go down with the dukes. OMG the waiting part is the hardest. I give this book 5 stars!
