Editorial Reviews

Vinyl LP pressing. 2010 release, the Columbus, Ohio, rockers' fifth album and follow up to the incredible album, Speaking In Cursive. Sweet Saint Me picks up where Speaking In Cursive left off but the album is a lot more focused and the songwriting could not be better. The album mixes rockers and acoustic tracks alike and hits home the fact that Two Cow Garage are becoming one of the greatest albeit underrated rock bands in America. If you have been following the guys since the beginning, you have most certainly noticed that the band has slowly forged their own sound (out of their alt-country humble beginnings) and have put together one of the most thunderous live sets you will ever see. The 13 track album boasts the strongest collection of songs Two Cow Garage have put together.

Two Cow Garage is a band that takes some getting used to, and possibly it's an acquired taste. The first time I heard them, they didn't do much for me, but overtime, they grew on me A LOT. Micah's voice in particular isn't the easiest to get used to, but once you've gotten it, it just sounds right. I wouldn't want it any other way now. Speaking In Cursive in particular really pulled me into the band, as the band had matured so much by that time, and Micah's songwriting had become top notch. I didn't know bands could still produce albums that good, and then Sweet Saint Me was released.

Sweet Saint me goes down as the best album of 2010 without a question, and has quite possibly reached my top 5 favorite albums of all time. This album is just that good. Every song is strong, and every song leaves you wanting more. The songs definitely show a more mature side of the band, although they still hold onto their punk rock roots. Just take the first line from "My Great Gatsby": "Where is Woody Guthrie, when we need him most?". The songs really speak for themselves. I consider this album anthematic, and haven't been able to stop listening to it.

I think I put it best a few months ago when I saw the band, and told Micah that the band had the sound of Bruce Springsteen, the energy of the Replacements, and the song writing of Bob Dylan. It really is true. The melodies in the album are great, you can't help but think of early 80s Bruce, and the energy brings up the 'mats without a question... The energetic punk rock songs mixed in with the soulful songs you expected from them. And the song writing is just top notch. I can't say enough good things about these guys, and I don't understand how everyone hasn't heard of these guys.

This is an amazing album... To all of you long-suffering Replacement's fans who never thought you'd find another band to follow--Two Cow is the real deal. This album has great vocals, intelligent lyrics, and fine guitar work-- what more could your want? Buy it and play it loud....and then start buying Two Cow's entire back catalog.... they deserve it--and you won't regret it.

Much akin to the dreaded "Dear Tick" disease! Much like that band, will another band member please take the initiative and step into Lead Vocals for Christ sakes. All the current singer's growlin' ruins these fine songs.
