My stomach churned as I read through the Luke storyline and I came very close to chucking it. I'm a die-hard, rarely give up on a book, person, so instead, I paged to the end and read the last few pages in hopes it might redeem itself by admitting how stupid the whole kiss-rape thing was. Well, it never did, maybe, kind of, but it did get better and so I forced myself through. Brooke's narcissistic attitude was hard to put up with but she did seem to grow up, very slowly, which was redeemable, enough. By the end, I didn't feel so bad about the story as in the beginning, but I did still close the book in the end feeling a bit preached to, like I'd just been subjected to a lesson on chastity at a Young Woman's activity night.
If you live in Utah, if you are Mormon, you'll probably love this story. But if you are like my little friend and have actually had to live through this experience for real because of how far these people will go to deny the very hormones God has given us--and I'm not saying it's okay to let go and act out on them recklessly, but for crying out loud--kissing is NOT a sin!!!
Join Brooklyn as she navigates her way through sophomore year and the ups and down of starting to date.
Determined to have Virgin Lips til she is ready to gift her first kiss to someone special Brooklyn agrees to go on a date, and things go haywire from there. The book is an interesting look into the life of a sixteen year old girl who has a strong religious belief strong family beliefs that get ruffled when she tends to not trust her own judgement.
I recently received this book as a gift and read it straight through.I recommend this book to all teenagers .
