About the Author
Stacy Barnett Mozer is a third grade teacher and a mom. She started writing books when a class of students told her that there was no way that a real author who wrote real books could possibly revise their work as much as she asked them to revise. She's been revising her own work ever since. You can find out more about Stacy and her books at: StacyMozer.com or by following her on Twitter @SMozer. To find out more about girls in sports or sporty girl books visit Sportygirlbooks.blogspot.com.

Mozer is a talented writer who has helped fill a void in middle grade fiction with this novel featuring a strong - and sporty - female character. As an adult reader I am impressed with the writing and character development throughout the novel, but even more importantly, I love that this story captivated my son (who won't always read books about girls!) and got him thinking about sexism and other challenges faced by girls. He's placed this novel on his bookshelf along with other sports titles by male authors Tim Green, Matt Christopher, etc. Stacy Mozer, please keep writing so we can have a complete collection of sports books written by men AND women, about boys AND girls.
My 11 year old daughter followed suit and read the book after we finished and asked if she could bring it to share with her class she enjoyed it so much. Highly recommend!
