I got this book for free, so maybe my version is different, but at the end, there was a link to get another romance novel for free. I made the mistake of clicking on the link, so I want to warn you NOT to do that. I got the free novel, but it was a PDF file, so even though my Kindle would read it, I couldn't get any of the Kindle options to work, like adjusting font size, search, dictionary look-up, etc. Then, even though I was careful not to select any other options, I started getting emails for more "free" or ".99¢" books. Clicking on "unsubscribe" didn't stop the emails and I am still getting them. Also, for what it's worth, the free PDF book was no better than this one.
So between the boring story and the mistaken click of the link, I don't recommend this book at all.
This story has all the homely charm of a small town romance with beautifully drawn characters and a picture postcard setting. Add in the glamour of a newly crowned celebrity chef - Trent Kipson, who catches the eye of fitness fanatic and aptly named Rayne Wilde and you have an engaging story you can’t put down.
The plot twists are well timed and there are more than a few surprises for Rayne and Trent.
The chemistry between Rayne and Trent sizzles from their first cute meet and it builds in a realistically satisfying way. The love scenes are hot but not graphic and fit in with the romance and gentle ethos of the story.
The supporting characters give the story its authenticity. I particularly liked Brian. Rayne’s sisterly siblings are recognisable to anyone who has sisters and you find out just enough about them to make you want to discover their stories too.
This is a lovely romantic story with plenty of angst and passion, the perfect ingredients for a cosy winter read.
I received a copy of this book from the author in return for an honest review.
The story of a tragically romantic gym owner, Rayne and the notorious playboy determined never to settle down Trent.
After a few hiccups in the beginning the pair build a friendship to be envious, seemingly spending every waking moment together. When Rayne can't help herself from falling in love with the irresistible baker, things start to get awkward. Trent has always been firm in his understanding that this can't go any further than friends, but he has a hard time convincing his body of that fact.
A beautiful story of opposites that attract and the struggles to overcome the sour taste their parents left in the mouth by their absentee parents.
I recommend this to everyone looking for a sweet, sexy book boyfriend who, despite his faults tries his best.
I'm a prolific reader of romance, but the friends to lovers trope has never been my thing. "Sweet on You" changed that. It's not hard to swoon over Trent. Who doesn't like a man who cooks and bakes? And it's great to finally have a heroine who is not afraid to admit that she wears her heart on her sleeve.
Yes, women can be like that. I am one of them and can relate to how the difficulty Rayne has had to endure when she admits that out loud, especially to the one she desires the most.
I will definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves a fun, easy read, with laugh-out-loud inner dilaogues, a few good surprises, and a happily ever after...and cake.
