Megan will need an extra dose of confidence, and some magic to make her dreams come true.
This was a sweet best friend's brother story. I loved reacquainting myself with the other characters from this series. I admired Megan, and only wish I could have seen pictures of her artwork. It sounded very intricate and magical. Brian was a great love interest: he teased Megan, supported her, and helped her to be her best self.
I can't wait to read the rest of this series.
Content: clean (some kissing)
I think this book was aptly named, The Sweetest Kiss, because Megan had been in love with her best friend Brian for so long that it made their kiss that much sweeter than other kisses when it finally happened. Since reading the first book I’ve been waiting to find out what would happen in Brian’s story. He seemed like such a deep feeling lovable person. I really loved that both Megan and Brian were portrayed as real characters, both have emotional flaws and both having clumsy moments. It made them very endearing and easy to love.
Just like how Megan’s paintings were praised for the little whimsical details hidden in larger scenes, it was the little details in each scene in the book that made this story come alive for me. A forgetful waiter, clumsy characters, hovering bees, butterflies, dolphins, all you can eat pancake guy, how both besties knew what the other one liked or would do down to even the little things. The book was like this beautiful painting or garden, filled with memorable details that make you smile when you think about it later.
Last thoughts on the book: I think Janine needs to have a HEA! I can't believe I went to Florence, Italy and didn't go to Boboli Gardens. I totally missed out.
This time around its Megan and Brian's chance at love. Right from book one i have had a feeling they were perfect for each other. When Megan's grandmother was sick, she promised her grandmother that one day she would visit Italy and Boboli Gardens. As life does it was making it hard for Megan to fulfil that promise. Until the newly renovated library started an art competition. The winner would win a years trip to Italy. Megan's life is finally starting to look up. She could end up living her dream, then Brian finally kisses her. Life is good. The only problem is Brian doesn't do long distance romance. Can they work through the issues threatening to keep them apart?
If you are a fan of clean contemporary romance then pick up a copy. Books can be read as a stand alone. I suggest reading in order.
