Once I started reading The Sweetheart Hoax, I couldn't put it down. I'm in love with this couple and in love with this story. If you like sweet, funny, and hot romances, you're going to love this newest book by author Christy Hayes!
I'm hoping for another book that includes all of the characters from these two books.
Phil doesn't notice her standing in the doorway while he's talking to his partner Danny. He's been too busy lately trying to find a woman he can take home to his father birthday party. He needs someone that will help squelch the new rumors that he's gay. A rumor by the way, that was started by his own mother.
After Margot over hears all the terrible thing he had to say about her, she rushes in the room and announces that she quits. She tells him she'll give him 2 weeks to find her replacement and then she's out of there.
What she didn't expect is Phil's outrageous offer. It's one that she finds she can't refuse. As Margot readies to accompany Phil to his hometown, she steels herself for heartbreak.
After Margot's makeover( Thanks to her friend Kate) and a weekend spent attached at the hip, Phil admits he misjudged his former employee. He's ready to pursue her in earnest, if only her scandalous past didn't stand in their way.
Is the scandal surrounding Margot enough to keep Phil away forever? Or will they be able to over come those huddles that stand in their way and make their relationship work?
This is a really fantastic book! I wish I had read the other book about Danny & Kate first though. Oh well...I'll go read it now anyway.
Would I recommend this book? Yes, most definitely!
Phil has spent the last several years working towards his and Danny's (from Heart Of Glass) dream of being environmentally conscious home builders. He's also refrained from visiting his down home country town & his family. He comes home to dispel rumors that the reason he has not married is because he's gay. To do this he needs to show up with his "girlfriend". He decides to bring Margot. Once back home he finally notices the quiet secretary, but is it too late?
Funniest part of the book for me was Phil's interactions with his brother! The whole horse farm aspect was different way of adding tension but it was funny! I've read some reviews that state this book is homophobic but I did not find that to be the case.
