The hour markers on the watch face, as well as the hands, glow in the dark well enough to see the time. However, the numbers on the rotating bezel do not glow, so if you plan to use the bezel function at night, you better bring a flashlight. When setting the time and date, the stem locks into the detentes with authority, a definite plus over my other watches where I have to pull the stem out several times to be certain that I have the correct setting before I turn the knob and discover that I have changed the wrong thing. So that is a definite plus for this watch. Another great feature is the automatic return of the hands of the chronograph dials to their home position. Anyone who owns a chronograph style watch knows that the hands will, at some point, no longer return to their 'zero' position. This watch does the work for you, so that is a big plus. I sometimes feel like I'm entering some video game cheat code with a bazillion steps every time I try to return my other watches to their home positions. Having the watch do all the work, as is the case with this one, was a nice surprise. I just wish that this came with a sapphire crystal, even though I know that would add to the price. The bezel moves easily, but not so easily that it would inadvertently move after it was set. The ring is a plastic resin, so only time will tell if it is sturdy enough to last or retain the printing on it. There are detentes at every minute. The second hand for the timer function is very thin so you have to look closely to see it if there is any glare. It advances in one second steps.
I took a star away for what I feel is excessive stiffness in the band, and I would feel better if the bezel was metal. But it is a very nice watch and seems to be of high quality. Even with the negatives, I would absolutely recommend this watch.
Edit 12/20/12 -- Further examination of the watch band found lugs (I don't know how else to describe them) on the back of the band (next to your skin). They don't cause any discomfort when wearing the watch (which is probably why I didn't notice them before), but they definitely impede the sliding of the strap holders and catch on the metal buckle. I can see absolutely no use for these lugs, other than that some designer thought they would be 'cool'. They're not. I suppose that you could fasten the strap to the bottom of your shoe and use the lugs to provide traction on ice. Really, I would love to know what the thought process was that added them to the band.
take in consideration that the rubber it comes with is really hard / not soft like other rubber bands.
only bad thing is that imprint on the outer side of the dial / chronograph is coming off :( and it is not supposed to be like this for the pricey watch like this.
