About the Author
Rhavensfyre is the name we publish under. We are two, KL and Roxy. We have been together for over 12 years and married less than one. We enjoy our horse farm when we can, bicycling when we may, and writing at any time of the night or day. Our goal in life is to write, to play and to enjoy the land around us. KL is a horse trainer and has shown in western pleasure in the past, now our focus is more on pleasure riding and breeding. She is an avid cyclist, and when she is not on four hooves she is on 2 wheels. Her wife, Roxy, works as a nurse by night and an artist by day. A military veteran, she has seen a good bit of the world and now enjoys the quiet country life immensely. Between the two of us, we try to bring a unique voice to our characters, building on what we know and love. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

I enjoyed this book very much and I think anyone who reads it will enjoy it as well. I look forward to more books by this author.
The chemistry between Olivia and Micah felt visceral, true, and absolutely reasonable. The exploration of the tension that most experience upon first recognizing desire and then trying to figure out how to act, captivated memory. More than the mere recognition of desire, but the insecurities at play when pursuing someone outside of assumed class/profession/circle, seemed spot on. Wonderfully developed through the internal dialogue of Olivia and Micah, the interplay between main characters and others within their varied circles, made me laugh, wistfully, remembering my own journeys. In order for a book to achieve such resonance in me, the plot had to be well crafted, enough that it seemed as though my own tale was being told. Wonderful book. I highly recommend it.
I have likened Switching Gears to be the LGBT version of 50 Shades in and that they are both novels of transformation and share some similar themes in regards to control, allowance, pain, stepping into new territory, and trust, but they differ drastically in their approach.
Also, the driving theme of Switching Gears is love. Not a light love that is nothing but surface sweetness but a deep devotional and unconditional love that ends up conquering demons and redefines what family is.
One very unique aspect is the complete shift in energy from the beginning of the novel and its end. The way that this book is written you actually go from this dark heaviness of past pains and figuratively feel the healing with each page turn.
And lastly the main character's identity was three-dimensional and accessible through many a lens including: lesbian, genderqueer and ftm.
As I said before -- the risk of buying this book is worth the reward!
