“Hideyoshi is no typical business guru, but his lessons have inspired generations of executives. . . . “The wisdom of this sixteenth-century samurai is astonishingly prescient and pertinent for twenty-first-century leaders. Practical wisdom at its best.” ―Warren Bennis, Distinguished Professor of Business, USC, and author of On Becoming a Leader
“A must-read for anyone trying to steer their organization down the right path.” ―Brendan I. Koerner, contributing editor, Wired magazine

About the authors

Dr. Timothy Clark believes everyone can boost their career satisfaction by grasping basic entrepreneurship and design thinking principles. He began his career as a Japanese-to-English translator focused on technology news and subsequently founded a marketing research consultancy that served clients such as Amazon.com, Bertelsmann Financial Services, and Intel. Tim’s own work model was transformed when his firm was acquired by a NASDAQ-listed corporation, an experience that inspired him to formally study and teach entrepreneurship. He became a professor of business and authored, co-authored, or edited eight books on entrepreneurship and personal development, including the global bestsellers Business Model You and Business Model Generation. A Stanford graduate, Tim also earned MBA and doctorate of business degrees and became a NEXT-certified entrepreneurship trainer.

An excerpt from 'Employ Those Whose Skills Exceed Your Own': "....A man named Hanbei was renowned for his skill in strategic warfare, and I resolved to bring him into my organization. But finding Hanbei, let alone persuading him to join me, proved a formidable task. The man was an enigma; weary of the prevailing martial chaos and disgusted with the debauched Saito Clan leader Tatsuoki, Hanbei had retired from worldly affairs. His whereabouts were a mystery."
Don't want to spoil too much. Enjoy.
This was up there with Who Moved My Cheese, Leadership Lessons of Jesus, and The Way of the Shepherd. The only reason it didn't get five stars was because of the very heavy use of exclamation marks which absolutely grate on me beyond belief, and some of the chronological events fell out of place and were confusing to the timeline of "Monkey"'s life to be able to make the leadership principles more cohesive in the chapter structure. But overall a very solid, enlightening, and entertaining read.
A must-read for all leaders of men. Sound advice for those looking to make it to the top of their field and do it in a manner that is non-agressive, ethical, completely moral and strategic.
