A friend of mine told me to read this series. I hadn't read in a while, so I started this, and was hooked. What I like is that it is full of surprises. I love the characters, and the way she brings us in to the story, no useless or missing information. I personally, enjoyed Torn more than the others, that book I was able to get right in the book and see it as I read it, I don't know why the others didn't do it for me too. But All 3 books were fun to read. It has a little bit of everything that I like, mer-people, flying horses, magic, humor and little bit of love, but not where it bored the reader. There were fights and war, and creativity throughout all the pages. I would recommend this series to anyone!
I love love loved the first 2 books in the series, I loved the characters and how they grew, changed and developed, I loved the secondary characters and the twists in the plot. This book fell short for me.
I was rather disappointed in how all the characters just gave up and did whatever Ulric desired. Most of them bent over backwards to make him happy, completely against everything the author had built them up to be! They acted like there was absolutely no other way than to follow his cruel ways. They almost grovel to him for no other reason that he was the 'rightful' king. I understand it would've been more difficult for them without him or if they opposed him but seriously grow a back bone! They could have found a way to overthrow Severin, with all their power there were tons of options. The character of Ulric and how EVERYONE did a complete about-face completely ruined this book. I am sad as it had such potential.
Aren goes in search of Rowan, with his good friends beside him. While in the cell, this other person taught Rowan how to control parts of her magic, and they managed to overcome the guard and attempt to escape.
It didn't take but moments before they are captured. Then behold....Aren arrives in the neck of time. Cassie and Kel, along with his sister Nox, take charge and they all escape.
This story is so good, that I have seriously lost sleep. I have cried with the loss of friends. Laughed with magic successes and prayed for a miracle when all hope looked grim. I loved it.
You must take your time reading this series. You don't want to miss anything. Kate Sparkes is a very talented writer. I am very impressed.
Read on my friends. You will not be disappointed.
By this point, the characters have become deeper. Strengths and weaknesses stand out in sharp contrast. The plot has become more complex as the cast has been enlarged and allies, enemies and those in-between gather.
There are others better equipped to give in-depth synopses of this third book in the series, but suffice to say, Book III, Sworn, is every bit as enjoyable as the others in this trilogy.
By all means, pick up this and the other books in the Bound Trilogy. Highly recommended for YA readers and adults.
It's a fast paced, well crafted story. If you're a paranormal reading fan, I highly recommend this book and the entire trilogy. You won't be disappointed.
Definitely a must read trilogy and so grateful with the author's free prequel and short novella, she ties all the loose ends. Great story, it's been a wild ride.
