Hardware - excellent; Syba customer service - nothing after two days.
After trying three different brands, Syba was the one that finally worked on my 2012 H61 chipset-based PC under Windows 10 but it was trial and error and took several steps:
1. First, I updated the BIOS in my older PC
2. After installing the card and drivers, the Device Manager showed that "the card did not start"
3. Then, I entered BIOS and disabled the onboard USB, thinking that it may help. Rebooted and the card was "working normally" in Device Manger. However, the USB 3.0 ports didn't work.
4. Finally, I attached the power cable to the PCIe card, renabled onboard USB and rebooted. That was the solution; the USB 3.0 ports need the extra power; all the 8 onboard USB 2.0 ports also work.
Windows 10 had no problem finding drivers but I also did an "update driver" with the latest Renasas (ex-NEC) drivers from their site.
The lesson is that older chipsets and BIOS versions may not be fully compatible with some PCIe USB 3.0 cards, and the BIOS may need tweaking according to your specific system. Unfortunately, one has to be a bit tech-savvy, searching on fora (forums) for solutions as Syba Customer Service seem to be unavailable in a timely fashion (no reply after two days).
