In a college comedy that puts a modern-day twist on an age-old story, Sydney White tells the tale of a tomboy freshman who ditches her conniving sorority sisters and finds a new home with a group of very dorky outcasts. Fed up with the way they've all been treated, she's off to war against the reigning campus royalty.

The first half of this film was quite good...

I enjoyed this one, at least in the beginning. A pretty girl raised by her construction worker dad leaves for college, intending to join the sorority that her mom was once a member. Soon we see a definite "Snow White & the Seven Dwarfs" analogy come into play, as the beautiful blonde "evil queen" of the sorority decides to destroy the pretty girl's dreams, with her forced to take refuge in the dilapidated residence hall of seven dorky nerd-students. At this point, the film begins to go downhill fast, quickly becoming a corny re-make of "Revenge of the Nerds!" I thought that the entire ending was just LAME!

TO DORKY
Verified purchase
I've watched this movie before & it's kind of amusing, in a way; but pretty dorky, too. I agree with Pen Name's review. Pretty much said it all. There have been dozens of movies made, using the Cinderella story analogy. Several, using the Beauty and the Beast story. This is the first and only movie going with the Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs analogy, that I'm aware of.. And I agree, it's also kind of another version of Revenge of the Nerds. What I really think is dorky, is the fact that every single member of the sorority is blond & size 2; except one; but even she is Blond and White. Apparently, not much changed from when Sidney's mom was there; since she was blond, size 2, and white, also. I really think the producers could have had at least one Brunett or redhead. And at least one who was of darker color, or Oriental. Some sort of diversity. Even when I watched this movie the first time, I thought it corny that every member of the house was, BLOND....... and, of course, white. And the ending is definitely taken out of the REVENGE OF THE NERDS, analogy. I gave it 3 stars because I liked it. But, really liked it? That's another story.

Maybe I’m just too old to appreciate this movie

I didn’t like this movie. It was too predictable and I cringed at many scenes . The last 20 minutes of the movie was unbearably corny for me so I didn’t finish it. I am a 25 year old female and often enjoy the coming of age/young adult type movies. The problem with this movie is that the script was too explicit which made everything so predictable and cliche. It’s like a 10 year old who has never experienced anything and only has other movies and TV shows to go off of wrote this script to create a really corny teen movie.

"Snow White and the 7 Dorks"

Really good watch, would watch again, and can recommend.

A modern day re-telling of Snow White. Not an easy task to get a modern ensemble cast to be significant, but they do a good job for the characters being mostly socially awkward societal rejects.

Amanda Bynes pretty much carries the movie, but that's to be expected from a Snow White.

The fun twist is they went with a "vs the rich" trope against greek row instead of her being princess-like.

The movie is a lot of fun, and Amanda Bynes does a great job of competitive girl on the social battlefield as does Sarah Paxton.

Sydney White: Modern Day Snow White & the Seven Dorks..

It's a twist on the story of Snow White, only with dorks not dwarfs. Nice girl goes to college to be thrown into the cattish world of sororities, yet niceness shines through. Sweet story where girl gets her "prince". I thought the jealousy of the evil queen was retold as the president of the sorority. Although the dorks are little over the top, but in the fairytale setting over the top characters are quite usual. And of course the end is summed up perfectly, in true fairytale style. I have enjoyed this movie for it's light comedy and good feelings!

Strong girl stays righteous and stands up to bullying. Teaches people to be themselves and have the confidence to grab life by the horns. Cute, inspirational story.

There are many lessons that can be learned from this movie! Love the storyline and cast! It's funny - definitely a classic! It does have it's own take on the movie "Snow White." I've watched this movie so many times now and enjoy watching it each time!

Always be yourself! ❤

Dork: the movie

This movie is good for background noise I guess. It is cringeworthy in so many moments and it has plenty of American highschool-movie clichés. Amanda is really cute however, she has during the whole movie those nasty hair strands on the side of her face, I think to make her face less round (?)...Sarah Paxton is mesmerizing to look at though definitely nailed the mean girl part.
