When I first got this unit I almost immediately deemed it a total waste of money... 3 days later I'd say it's "ok". You have to learn a few tricks to really get what you want out of it.

Here's my list of "tricks":

-Don't mount it like they show in the book. It's idiotic and you can't change the disk without unmounting it. Rather, just use one strap on each unit to go horizontally around the headrest spokes and through the two "side" strap holders on the unit. Works like a charm.

-Remote control will NOT work unless pointed directly at the "main" unit.

-USB drive must be formatted in FAT32, and the player cannot handle some video formats (MP4 didn't work, AVI did...). Once I got that figured out i was able to use an 8gb thumb drive formatted in FAT32 with 7 avi movies on it perfectly.

-Same formatting rules seem to apply to the SD card slot...

-While you can't play two different movies on the two screens... you CAN disconnect the AV cable and use the dummy screen to play other devices. I used the included RCA cable connector to hook my xbox to that screen while the other screen played a video.

-Others have complained about the video resume. I've found that if you don't turn off the player when you shut off the car, then it will resume from the same place.

SO overall I'd say it's perfectly functional with a few quirks. Took me a while to figure them out so I hope this post is helpful to you all.

We have an older SUV and we do not want to do an after-factory add-on to it. Since my husband & I both grew up in the 80's and remember the 4 day long road trips with nothing but a Walkman and a book so we definitely didn't think our kids needed to watch movies. We made it 5 years and for the price these couldn't be passed up. I was not optimistic they would work well (and honestly have only used them in my husband's smaller car) but they were really fast to set-up having not read the instructions at all. My kids were in heaven for the 30 minute drive to the zoo and my husband was happy he could listen to sports radio without whining from our 5 year old to switch to music. The plan is to only use them on 2 hour or longer trips which we take with some regularity.

Wow, words cannot describe how much we hate this player. Took a chance based on the good reviews and have regretted it ever since.

Sound and video quality are decent, though we set it up on the counter to view them before we went on a road trip and one screen is a slightly different color and not quite as sharp, red flag number 1. Turned on a test movie to make sure we knew how to use it and it took FOREVER to load, red flag #2. Decided to install it as we were driving from WI to CA and back and absolutely needed to have something for the 4 kids to watch. Install was horrendous, the straps are such poor quality that I needed a pair of needle nose pliers just to get them in to the player and they do not hold up well on head rests at all. I mean you really have ot wrench them down tight and they will still shift while driving.

Decided to do a test run to grandma's house to see how to load it and start it while driving since we were going to have to do this on the road while driving in a few days. First time with a Disney DVD (or anything with a fast play feature) in this case we used Lion King. The movie never loaded and froze 4 times on the drive to Grandma's, 25 minutes. HUGE RED FLAG. Thinking it had something to do with the fast play feature, I had to literally sit in the back and as soon as the fast play feature clicked on I had to hit enter to go to main menu before it froze and start the movie via scene selection, absolutely not ideal if you had to do this on the road. Doing the test run we learned another valuable lesson that put the death nail in the coffin for us, there is no autoplay feature.

I will start by saying this device is no high end electronic, but with most of my experience you get what you pay for. It is nice that products like this exist that are affordable to the average person.

Let me start by saying that I bought this set in Canada and brought it down to Central America where I now live and where the roads are insanely treacherous. This player would get less bumped and bounced if you kicked it around a soccer field.

Purchased this player set 6 months ago and here is how it has performed in my time. Opened the box and fastened both sets to the head rest with the straps provided which are not the most intelligent design (as described in many of the reviews), but if you give the straps a strong tug they will work just fine and still do even after the wear and tear of mounting and removing the player at least 20-30 times.

The player worked great at playing DVD's for the first 4 months and then would interrupt playing, shut down, and restart the DVD from the main menu. That would have been it for my review and called this system something for the junk pile, if it wasn't for the fact that there is a USB/SD port available. I am confident that all the banging around in my vehicle killed the player, but I can still play anything off a memory stick (which is better quality and easier to travel with anyway).

Both screens deliver optimum quality picture for the price and are the perfect size to see from the distance of the seat to headrest.

I am not sure what the best brand of portable DVD player is out there, but it is very likely that they are all similar in this price range. Not sure that I would stand by this brand name necessarily, but I will strongly suggest that you not buy any player without the USB/SD card reader.
