I rely greatly on customer reviews when I am looking to purchase an item, and I know others do, too, so I try to be as thorough and honest in giving it as possible. I put a lot of thought into my review and appreciate feedback, so if you have found my review helpful, please take a moment to click on "yes” to let me know. Thanks so much for reading and feel free to ask me any questions! :)
I have now had the Sylvania unit for one week. My thoughts are that this is a utilitarian product. It is inexpensive. Speaker quality is fine, but if you are an audiophile person, don't get this unit. All the radio stations I need are received, and I do not get any static or drift. The clock is dim but I don't care. When the unit is on, the radio station is displayed and not dimmed. If you want a $400 Sony unit, go for it, but for $40 this Sylvania unit meets my needs. The only function that I miss with this unit vs the GE unit is that the GE unit had an under the counter light.
The display has an awful problem which is that it can only be viewed from certain angles so I am often craving my head or stepping aside just to see the time. See photo example of this.

Very disappointing, wasting time drilling holes in the cabinet and installing it, only to have to reverse the process and return the item. I wish we could find a unit like this that works, but I don't trust this model, no matter what brand name is on it.
The sound from the CD player is acceptable but the radio is ridiculous. There are time the reception does come in but usually not. A simple receptical for the addition of a remote external antenna would make great improvements to this unit. I waited too long and can't return mine but I can save you from wasting your money.
We have had two Sony under the cupboard radios over the past nineteen years and loved them. I would suggest you spend the extra and buy the Sony and forget this Sylvania unit altogether.
