I spent last night giving it a test flight around my living room and I've been zooming it around the office today and I am very impressed! With a full charge, the rotor blades get a lot of power and you're up and running. What took me off guard is the remarkable stability here. You can sit there and hover at whatever altitude you want and pull of some tight turns quickly. The controls are very responsive and most mishaps are due to user error or outside factors (wind or ventilation). I did fly underneath an AC vent at the office and noticed significant but not insurmountable air resistance.
The forward tilt of the nose does seem a little understated which limits forward movement to cruising speed. I assume this was done to make the chopper a bit more user friendly and help limit crashing. I had read in one of the reviews here that adding a small amount of blue tak to the nose can help increase speed, so I may try this.
It does indeed seem to go a bit faster backward than forward, but this is not enough of a complaint for me to dock a star.
The instruction manual states the helo can be charged from the controller or via a USB port in a PC, but I've personally found the best way to go is to use a cell phone fast charger plugged into a wall outlet. After about 30-40 minutes I'm getting a solid 8-10 minutes of flight with the last minute or so being limited to lower altitude due to lack of power.
The lights on the front are bright and I was able to (carefully) navigate an otherwise fully-darkened living room.
Durability seems good as I have crashed it a few times with no damage to the rotors or chassis.
Overall, this helo is a ton of fun for the price point. If you have an even passing interest in helicopters, I can definitely recommend this model.
I did NOT receive this product at a discount OR for free. I used my own money to buy this and I would do it again and again.

It's a great bit of fun for indoors when the weather isn't very good. It's a nice size and can fly around the house on a good charge.
It looks very cool and he loves! It doesn't take very long to charge and lasts for a whole! One happy child so worth every penny. bargain!!
It took about a week to arrive but as it seems to have come from China I thought that was pretty good
Over all very happy :)
Just remember when you order it does requires 6 AA batteries and they don’t come with it.
The helicopter comes very well packaged with moulded internal packaging keeping the delicate helicopter safe. Inside the box you also get the controller and a bag with charging cable and mini screwdriver with which to open the battery compartment. You will need to buy 6 AA batteries as they don't come included.
The controller is quite substantial. The controls are very responsive and quite sensitive, but this means that once you get to grips wit it, you have total control making it a great helicopter to fly. You can fly it up, down, forwards, backwards and hover. It functions just like a real helicopter.
The actual helicopter is really robust for such a delicate looking thing. It did take the first few minutes to get a grip with how to control it, so we did have a fair few crash landings. There was no damage to the helicopter though as it is really solid and good quality.
You get around 5 minutes of flying with a charge time of around 20 minutes for the helicopter which is fairly good.
We used this inside as the weather is quite windy at the moment and we have damaged a drone in the past by flying into a tree in the wind, so for now we have confined it to the house, but in the warm, mild summer days we will take it out into the garden to have a pay with it.
Overall I would say that this is well worth the cost. As I said before, I have bought cheaper helicopters, but they have been cheaply built, hard to control and easy to break. This helicopter is worth the additional cost as it is far superior in quality and ease of use. The only advice I would give is to start out very gently and very slowly with the tiniest movements on the control until you understand how it works, then you will have a lot of fun.
I used to have some growing up and last month i bought myself a little drone and helicopter to mess around with
It got me back into flying them!
I quite rate syma helicopters...they were the ones i used to have back in 2007 and i had a couple recently and they really are fun!
I saw this apache one and thought itd bw fun to fly...i used to have a chinook one but sadly its motors burnt out a few years ago
So i thought id give this a try
On the whole its quite good!
The reason why ive rated it 4 stars is because whilst it is incredibly easy to fly...for any more experienced pilots, it gets boring rather quickly because it moves too slow
They've really cut down weight to reduce the battery and motor size needed
As a result it is very light and slight breezes and convention currents do move it around slightly
The handling is easy though
Theyve disabled the left yaw so that it makes it super easy to fly
You now have up down, forward backwards and rotate left right
The joystick for up down is also a fixed joystick instead of spring loaded
This makes it super easy for kids because you can just leave the joystick and the helicopter will maintain pretty much the same height
In terms of battery life...its not bad
It lasts about 10 minutes
Although sadly the last minute or two youre kind of limited to only a about 10cm off the ground
The trim is one thing that annoyed me...im not sure if its drafts in my hallway or if its the helicopter
But it seems to start to slowly spin the more out of battery it gets and the closer to the ground
I think its from it kicking up air along the floor but in not sure
But those are my only complaints really
Because its so easy to fly it makes it fantastic for kids which is why ive given mine to my nephew...but id say its definitely for new fliers and kids
Because its all plastic it does mean its pretty strong, and it autocuts if you hit something too hard which is quite good for kids at least
It responds quickly and powers up and down almost immediately which is exactly what you want! Tho sometimes there is a delay, and i have noticed that on some syma products ive had before tho mainly the drones
Overall im pretty pleased with it even if it wasnt super fun to fly....and now my nephew is loving it!!
I haven't purchased one of these Micro RC helicopters for several years now and wow the improvements that have been made. This one both looked much more sturdy and from my initial several flights is much more robustly built.
This thing is hilarious, you can just buzz it around your house. A pretty good game is to just try to control it as you walk through different rooms of your house, without hitting any walls or ceilings or furniture. Who can get it the farthest. Although using it outside is the most fun, because you don't need to worry about bumping into anything. A lot of fun for such a cheap price. The other cool thing I notice is that when it crashes and is laying down on its size or upside down or whatever, you can just hit the throttle and the friggin thing rights itself back up and takes off into the air again. You don't need to go grab it and turn it over. And because its so little and light, it doesn't really getting damaged when it crashes. Highly recommended!
Anyway, the smaller box arrived and this turns out to be almost identical to the larger model (apart from the style) with the same great build quality, just smaller. So small, in fact, that the on/off switch on the fuselage is almost invisible (but still operable with an adult fingernail). I've attached a photo to show just how small this thing is, since it's hard to appreciate scale from adverts.
For indoor use this is ideal. The mechanical (rotor) gyro and electronic heading gyro make this really easy to fly. Well, easy in comparison to some others! Coincidentally I am reading Chickenhawk, by Rob Mason, about helicopter flying in Vietnam (so the bodywork on this is apposite), and naturally I try to take off by going light and then hover a half-inch. This is pretty easy but doomed to failure - when it goes light, some part is still holding it up so the bodywork tips slightly, and then when you do get fully flying you're crabbing into the furniture. N00b tip: take off quick and clean, then you can achieve a static hover.
The USB charger plugs into a really tiny receptacle and takes about 40 minutes to fully charge, after which there is 5-6 minutes of flying (or hovering!) time. Everything seems to be crash-proof with the rotors being extra flexible and the bodywork deformable. There is a spare rear rotor (presumably this is too small to be made flexible), and a screwdriver to access the batteries in the controller is provided. Usefully, there is also a charger lead hidden behind a hatch in the controller, so you can recharge the chopper even without USB access - neat, and indicative of the thought that's gone into this product.
Speaking of the controller, despite half the advert, this is an infrared job. Perhaps the chopper is just too small to include 2.4GHz radio kit. There are a couple of 'gotchas' when using infrared, but so long as you remember to point the controller at the chopper you would probably forget how it communicates. The most obvious is that the controller takes six batteries (not supplied) since throwing IR over a distance takes power. And strong sunlight can overwhelm it (so if you do go outside, choose a dull day). There are apparently two channels available, so you can have two choppers flying at once, and although the controller can select which channel to use, the chopper seems to be fixed (it has the channel number embossed on the fuselage).
Apart from the slight increase in weight from the extra batteries, the controller is just like any other Syma one. The controls are light without feeling fragile and just the right amount of sensitivity, and no noticeable play.
If push came to shove, my preference would probably be for a radio controller but, nevertheless, this model is going to get a lot of flying hours on it.
It comes completely ready to fly the only thing you need to do is add batterys to the controller ( The addition of the correct size screw driver was also bonus as it saved time searching for one.)
Measuring in at just under 8 inches this is small enough to be flown in small rooms without bouncing off the walls
It's fairly easy to fly and responds well to inputs that said you will inevitably crash it on your first few flights but not to worry It's very durable and as of yet I haven't managed to break a single piece off in my numerous crashes.
As to the styling it's styled after a AH-64 Apache Attack Helicopter and it that regard I think Syma have done a good job, it really does look intimating when its hovering in your face however that may be due to my sketchy piloting skills.
Coming in a neat box, there are the RC helicopter itself, a remote control, an USB charger cable and a user manual. The outer shell looks great hence it is a perfect idea for a present.
Out of the box, the helicopter is well made with strong plastic in military green color. The helicopter flies using infrared but still allows the helicopter to fly far away from our position. It is also quite easy to fly the helicopter as it is really stabilized. With a strong frame and blades, there is no worry for us when landing the helicopter.
The batteries are charged via the USB charger. However, it takes quite long to fully charge the battery and a full battery can only fly for a short time.
Overall, I would recommend this helicopter. It is a perfect idea for a present for kid.
Definitely recommend this little helicopter for hours of great fun.
