And this takes a beating and keeps on ticking. It has fallen too many times to count and has landed upside down, sideways, and on its feet and has not broken at all.
My one issue was with the battery. it is only a 500mAh battery. I did go out and get a couple of 850mAh batteries that fit perfectly and I swear my flight time has almost doubled.
I have not used the camera feature yet, am still trying to get down flying this thing. But so far this is AWESOME!!!
I got this mainly so that my kids and I could do something different on the weekends. We've now flown it around an hours worth of time. The battery only last between 10-15 minutes, so I had to buy spares and keep them at the ready.
Maneuverability was a bit of a challenge for me, but my 10 year old picked it up pretty quickly. (she claims that all her minecraft knowledge, was to blame)... whatever.
One thing to note, the manual is pretty bad and figuring out how to get it to start was a bit of a challenge at first. We finally you tubed it and figured out that you have to do the following:
1 - Power up the drone
2 - Power up the remote controller
3 - push the left controller stick all the way up... then all the way down.
Step number 3 is essential or it will not do a thing. Once this is done, you can begin flying and crashing about. We've crashed into trees and other "soft" objects and have yet to cause any real damage. Hopefully that trend continues and we can have fun for a good while with it. I got it during the Black Friday for a great price and if it happens to break, I won't be too hear broken. Until then, happy flying!
PRO- Reproving the guards does improves battery life.
CON- Not a good idea for beginners.
The pictures and videos are what you would expect from a 2 MP camera but they are still pretty decent once you master hovering. Videos are going to be polluted with drone noise tho. I own 3 of them and they are fun to fly at night.
A quick maintenance tip - Make sure to clean the props and prop shaft periodically so your motors doesn’t end up straining and burning out early.
(education through experience)
I plan to upgrade to something with better quality soon.
I have close to 50 flights, so far, and the original Propellers are just like new.
The only thing I had to upgrade was the Micro SD Card. The card that came with the X5SC was not very good quality and all the videos and photos were real grainy. After getting a 16 GB 90 MB/sec Micro SD Card the videos a photos are much better. The Camera does need allot of light.
I recommend Shooting outdoors in bright sunlight.
Over all a Great Little Quadcopter.
Load up on extra battery's first thing as you'll wish you had them.
I also might add that it is built a lot tougher than it looks.
