About the Author
R. A. Schwaller de Lubicz (1887-1961) was one of the most important philosophers, mathematicians, and Egyptologists of this century. His elucidation of the temple at Luxor and his presentation of the Egyptian understanding of a special quality of innate consciousness form a bridge that links the sacred science of the Ancients to its rediscovery in our own time.

Mr. Lubicz has done everyone a great service by giving us this slim book. Now, I am not an expert on symbolic thought or symbols but this book has shown me a new way of looking at Egyptian Symbols, like just simply looking at the symbols themselves and what they might mean and what they bring to mind.
I have never seen so much information packed into such a small space (the book is only 94 pages long) but, it delivers so much for you to think about. The chapters "Symbolic Modes","The Principle of the Present Moment","The Discontinuous Object in the Continuous Present" and "The Symbol as Expression of a Will" or excellent and real eye openers. You may have to read them a few times but it is well worth the time and effort.
It not only gives you a better understanding of Egyptian symbols but symbols in general, no matter what they are.
I recommend this work to everyone no matter what your field of study may be.

de Lubicz was highly recommended by a scholarly friend of mine. He was not a main stream Academic in Egyptology at the time and he wrote for the popular audience in an authoritative and entertaining way.
Like anything you consume, take it with a grain of salt. But in time, I will buy more - perhaps all - of his books and booklets.
Try a used book the first time around and see what you think.

Very interesting read. Unfortunately there are many problems with the kindle transposition that make the text disordered and challenging These errors are unfortunate given the high quality of the content.

What does that mean to you? What if you are an egyptologist and you, after reading this, you realize you know nothing of Egypt?
Well you don't have to be an egyptologist to see it! Any intelligent person can see he is right.
Scientists have a tendency to look back things of the past as silly stupid primitive or ignorant. but really we are the ignorant ones.
And yes the egyptians were not some primitive morons scared of shadows and death prone to animism but were 500 times more , no 1,000 more advanced than modern scientists assume they were. and i don't mean materialistically advanced that means very little.
The author proves that egypt had advanced spiritual and a advanced phycological outlook as well.
Although alchemy and the hermetical texts said much of this in the middle ages but the author puts it in a easy to digest format
