Top customer reviews
I agree with most that they sound slightly muddy at first, but they get better as the driver gets worked. I found what the other reviewer said to be true with the highs being slightly muffled, and I did the same thing he did and removed the foam. Now they sound even better. It was a very simple thing to do, only took me 5 minutes. Don't worry the cloth with the "L" & "R" is attached to the ear pads, so they will look the exact same as before. See photos.
All around these headphones are very solid and look like they are much more high end than the price payed.
Stock sound is as if the highs are hidden behind some veil. It is as if they are accurate but somehow out of reach. They are! Just remove the ear cushions. There is a small piece of foam glued to the plastic in front of the drivers. Simply pull it off. The sound will open up and sparkle. No worries if sibilance or fatigue. Turns the headphones from 3 stars to 4+.
The 650's sound awesome-- immersive, crisp highs, deep rich bass for blasting bangers -- are comfy and look sleek (Check em out if you haven't yet) These guys are similar sounding-- less emphasis on the bass but not saying it's lacking in that department. It's actually a really well balanced sound (I prefer it less bassy) and the wraiths are in a better looking package in my opinion. For $50, it's a no brainer.
I recall reading a review that said the cables that come with the headsets get worn out quickly, but that it's difficult to find cables that fit the headset. I haven't really used my cables much so they're not worn out at all, but I got replacement ones just in case. I didn't have any trouble finding cables that fit. The standard 3.5 mm male-to-male cables worked immediately.
They're very comfortable completely covering my ears (even with large gauges) but do get a little sweaty and warm, I usually don't notice until I take them off.
Definitely not sound proof, this may be because they don't sit flat against my head but I have an easy time hearing outside loud sounds, like the car radio or someone shouting, it's muffled noise.
A bonus was the brand sent an extra pair of ear cords with the headphones which is very nice. There are 2 connectors per cord, one for each side, and if you only plug in one side then sound only comes out of that side. The jacks are very sturdy and click in with more pressure than I'm used to, they don't have a locking mechanism but I have yet to have them yanked out of the headphones!
They feel like little lightweight so I'm worried about longterm use, but on the other hand they're not heavy and clamping down over my head which is great bcuz I get headaches easily and haven't had a problem with these so far.
Have used these for a month and am really enjoying the set! I feel like these headphones trade off style for functionally a bit but I'm perfectly fine with that. Wouldn't recommend for heavy use.
