To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.
It's very well built with thicker steel compared to its competitors. It's quite sharp and does an excellent job of piercing both young and older coconuts. If piercing older coconuts and you come up on resistance, just invert the coconut temporarily and moderately bang the handle against a concrete floor and you'll be in business...My one caveat, which another reviewer mentioned, is the stem attached to the handle is too short, which when in the act of turning could cut a finger...One way around this is to use a pair of light-duty gloves.
The item I received has a tiny handle and spoon-shaped body. It also would not open the first coconut I tried. It doese not match the item pictured at all.
Very well made, sharp, gets the job done. Really wish it was slightly wider like its Brazilian metal coco competitor. The hole can sometimes be way too small and coconut water pours out pretty slow. Also, the handle is way too close to the sharp edges for my big hands, I’ve cut myself once or twice just using it normally. Subtle design flaws but overall very useful.
