Smooth rings, lovely tonality and works well in all conditions!
Excellent tone, and very smooth rings (unlike others). This is a very high quality product and I didn't notice any vignetting or color banding till above ND10, then suddenly there's a + shaped band around top-right and bottom-left of the filter. But its only visible when filter is set to its max density. Check out the greenish tones around that area in the photos I have attached. The case that comes with it is beautiful, but kinda snug. Wish it were just a tad bit bigger. Also, when this is attached to your 24-105 or 70-200 etc., you cant attach the hood, nor the lens cap. You will need to buy some sort of protection if you're a run and gun shooter like me. Overall, lovely piece of equipment! Now I can't work without it.

Terrible quality control and even worse....snooty customer service reps (at Syrp). This filter arrived in over the top hipster packaging, but sandwiched between the pieces of glass used in the filter, and dead center, is a 1/8 inch long fiber that gets whiter and 'hotter' the darker I dial in the filter. I contacted Syrp to ask if the fiber would impact my photos. The rep wouldn't answer the question, other than to request a series of photos. F that...just answer the question!

My favorite inexpensive Variable ND filter with a few things to keep in mind.

The 62mm version doesn't have a hard stop at the maximum settings, the VND can spin into and out of min and max settings. The 82mm version surprisingly does have hard stops at the min and max. They both can turn very smoothly but with a hard stop, you don't risk going beyond the max. The 82mm version, I received is a bit stiffer in the ring that makes the effect stronger but it's not a huge difference.

They both exhibit the X pattern at the most max settings, but the 82mm has a less drastic effect due to the hard stop feature.

There is a color cast which you'll need to correct for. Syrp VND filters seem to give a very yellow, warm tone to an image. So much so that it's not a pleasing shift like you'd like to expect. An 18% grey card will do the trick. I use them for video on a GH5s and the color accuracy is far better with Syrp VND filters and a white balance with a grey card.

Very high level of clarity with a pronounced tint, which is easily fixed in post. The Filter came in an amazing carrying case with made out of leather which was an unexpected surprise. This ensures you can slip it into a cargo pocket and not worry about damage.

The step-down rings cover all of my Canon, Sigma and Tamron lenses. With variable ND settings and easy to read white lines which indicate the step-down in light, this is a one size fits all carry every day outstanding Filter!

I've been using a B + W variable ND filter & decided to try Syrp. I'm glad I did as this ND filter did not produced a lot of color cast especially on the higher stops. I have a 77mm lens & the addition of a step up ring to 82mm is really a thoughtful touch. The stops are clearly marked on the ring which gives a good indicator on where you're at. I recommend this product.

Like everything Syrp makes, this ND filter is dynamite! No distortion in image or color. VERY low profile, and excellent storage case. I ended up ordering step rings for all my lenses.

I compared it against a Tiffen ND and I found the Syrp to be optically superior. Pricey but you get what you pay for.

1.0 out of 5 stars Didnt work anything like the numerous reviews said it would
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on July 1, 2021
I had a terrible time with this ND variable filter. The only time it worked well was after sunset with the sun behind me.
I was shocked that in any other light there was severe 'crossing' from 3.5 up the max of 8. For a £180 filter thats awful
Ive got a £35 cheapy that totally outperforms this.
Maybe it was faulty? I'll never know because the company never got back to me!...but as they didn't respond i could rely on Amazon to get me a full refund.
I've already got dedicated high end filters and have splashed out on more across the range to avoid any risk of this happening again.
