About the author

Debbie Simpson has been a celiac awareness advocate ever since she was diagnosed in September of 2000 after decades of health struggles. Adhering to a strict gluten-free diet enabled her to rejoice in renewed health, instantly impassioning her to promote awareness and provide gluten-free support.
As a mom, teacher, and early childhood professional, Debbie’s need to support children inspired her first book, Adam’s Gluten Free Surprise: Helping Others Understand Gluten Free (and the identical girls’ version, Hailey’s Gluten Free Surprise). She also shares children’s and adult’s personal celiac stories on her website and blog at GlutenFreeRespect.com.
Gluten Free Respect also includes a 12-month series, The Emotional Side of Gluten Free. Debbie used these posts to create her most recent book, Gluten Free: The Emotional Side of Dietary Differences, based on her personal celiac story and gluten-free journey.

I would recommend this book. It helps you understand what an emotional and intense journey this has been for the family. It also helps you realize that no matter what, you have to be your own advocate or have some one to fulfill that role.
