I purchased this book as soon as it was released hoping it would fill in the gaps between the original release of OpsMgr 2007 and the R2 release that I actually have in production. It did exactly that. The supplement expands on the original and updates the documentation based on what changed in the R2 release of the product. I also like the concept of a supplement as I didn't need to go back and read (or re-buy) what I already knew from the first book, this made it simple to focus on what was new. Perfect option for a "skills upgrade" from the original.

I have now both the Unleashed books for SCOM 2007 and this one for R2. I was dissapointed with the quality of SCOM documentation available, and the original Unleashed book was by far the superior to any others I had seen. However, that doesn't mean it wasn't lacking in a few things. This supplement has fixed a lot of that now. From handy 'things to watch for' sections and MP guides to processes of how to upgrade your RMS to SQL 2008 (including reporting services,) this book is a must-have for the serious SCOM admin.

I have this book, signed by the authors (thank you Kerrie and Cameron). System Center Operations Manager (SCOM) is a great Microsoft monitoring solution, so big to be managed, since SCOM 2007 SP1, and after R2 version be released we have many many many improvements and updates, then a supplement was a good idea, thank you guys. And more, only pay $26.39 for a 528 pages book? This is very good business. On this edition the book talks about Cross Platform, SQL/Windows 2008, Service Level Monitoring, and more. If you have the first book, buy this supplement, if not, buy both books, because this will be a great investment in knowledge. Recomended.

Not to bad, but I little bit short. You need System Center Operations Manager 2007 Unleashed. The book will be better if the author completed missing informaton in first and cover in more deep SCOM R2.

Thought the book was great. Then tried to use the support link to access the stuff you need to follow the tutorials. No go. It allows you to register the book but no support material given. No scripts , No additional info. Really frustrating

What a bummer! If this is the cloud give me a CD any day!
