New black and silver T-Fal ultraglide easy cord 4495 iron embodies ingenuity and innovation for easy ironing and high performance. Thoughtfully designed iron smoothest out wrinkles quickly and easily. Ultraglide ceramic soleplate has the best glide, with incomparable smoothness, scratch-resistance and non-stick properties. Pointed tip works well for getting into pleats, between buttons and along seams. Iron produces continuous steam (up to 35-gram per minute), delivers a powerful burst of steam (100-gram/min) as needed to help smooth out stubborn wrinkles from difficult fabrics. Continuous steam and soleplate temperature are both adjustable to the fabric type. For added convenience, iron comes with extra large sealed inlet opening for easy filling and to prevent spills, large 9-ounce water-tank size means fewer refills necessary; and has a 12 feet extra long cord. Use iron on a flat surface for traditional ironing or hold it upright for vertically steaming out wrinkles from hanging drapes and delicate garments. Easy cord system keeps the cord out of the way when ironing and prevents from re-wrinkling already-ironed fabrics . Dual self-cleaning technology with calc-recollecting valve and integrated anti-scale system provide better long-lasting performances while the anti-drip system prevents water leaks when the iron is not hot enough to steam. Lightweight, the 1725-watt iron endears itself to users with its soft grip handle for ergonomic comfort. Extra-Large heel helps to prevent tipping over and is perfect to wrap up the cord when the iron is stored. For peace of mind and added safety, iron comes with a 3-way auto off feature. Iron will shut off automatically after 30 seconds of inactivity if left on its soleplate or tipped over on its side; if left vertically on its heel rest, it will shut off after 8 minutes. Iron measures approximately 5.9 By 11.1-inch And carries a one year limited warranty.

The T-fal FV4495 is a nice iron in several regards:
➺ It has a super long cord length - 12 feet
➺ It has a really nice easy glide base plate
➺ Lots of holes in the base plate let out lots of steam
➺ Auto-shutoff after 8 minutes of standing on heel or after 30 seconds of being flat down or tipped over without movement.
➺ It is fairly light in weight and easy to handle
➺ Nice solid and wide heel for stability
➺ Gets to temperature quickly
The T-fal uses 1725 watts of electricity which produces great heat quickly. The B&D D2030 uses 1500 watts which is still respectable but the T-fal is a bit faster getting to temperature.
The steam generation is excellent in my opinion.
The burst of steam works well as does the water spray. Both of these functions are controlled by two large, easy to hit buttons on the top of the handle. Also on the handle light that indicates power is on or that the iron is in standby (no heat and the light is blinking rapidly.)
The temperature dial is in the middle of the iron above the water reservoir. With my older D2030, the steam dial was in a slightly similar position but was much wider and stuck out so far that I was always inadvertenly changing the steam setting. The temperature dial on the T-fal is smaller in diameter therefor does not stick out to the side as much and I never seem to hit it accidentally which is great.
This iron just glides over fabric and the steam generation is great. It's easy to handle because it is lighter in weight than my old D2030. The long cord is really nice.
There is not much to not like with this iron but a couple small gripes... I wish the water reservoir were a bit larger and the user guide is very poor. It uses graphical icons to illustrate features and functions rather than actual words. It's like trying to interpret hieroglyphics.
Nice iron. I like it.

Black & Decker D2030 review: http://www.amazon.com/review/RU31UO0E382H5
For the first month, it seemed fine. Then, nearly all the markings wore off, making operation by memory a must. Not a major problem, right? Then, the steam started becoming less consistent. Annoying, but not a deal-breaker yet. And then, just when I was getting used to it not working well, it started leaking out of the base and cord pivot. And when I say "leaking," I really mean "constantly trickling out water while ironing and in storage." Soaked shirts, soaked ironing board, soaked shelf. I tried tightening the screws everywhere I could, and just as soon as I felt like I had it figured out, it would drench another shirt.
I guess I should probably just dump it and buy a good iron from a different manufacturer, but man, does that ever leave a sour taste in my mouth not making T-fal stand behind their product. In the end, it's just not worth the warranty legwork for what may end up being a dead-end waste of time and cost more money. Don't trust the new-owner reviews, and don't buy into the "just use a towel" concessions. Look around and buy a decent iron elsewhere.
