Yes, the set is packed pretty tight. I assessed the situation and got a pair of kitchen shears to open the packing. It took me 3 minutes, people. DON'T get regular household scissors. You will break them or injure yourself. Just use common sense. The shears are bigger and work better. And yes, I do agree it was packed ridiculously tight, but I didn't pack it, so I don't have a say in that.
For the people complaining about the rollers not heating up properly.... yes, the rollers must be on, just "so" to heat up, but they kind of "lock" into place, so you will know if they are on correctly or not. And they heat up pretty fast, in about 3-5 minutes, so it may take you some trial and error to know when they are correctly locked into place. The red dots on the top of the rollers turn white when ready. Easy. It has worked perfectly for me everytime.
As for the rollers themselves... the flocking on the rollers prevent heat damage and give shine to your hair. And the clips are ok, not great, but Amazon or any beauty supply sells metal clips (if you prefer them) or better clips which are a bit more substantial and not as flimsy as the ones that come with the set. I have used rollers for years, so I can get by with the clips provided....and if you put them on correctly, they do not leave dents.Read more ›
PRO: This set contains 8 jumbo/large rollers and are compact.
PRO: traveled well in a black, soft quilted case.
PRO: how the rollers fit into place: a person would have to have very limited mental skills for this to be a problem. It is just like any "plug" - the roller has a small prong that fits into place as any plug would. Why anyone would look at it and try to fit it sideways is just......well.....really stupid.
PRO: they heat up quickly and are hot enough to do a good job
CON: I don't like the plastic clamps with rollers. No problem - I have a Baggie full of the metal "u" clips from other sets.
CON: the rollers are heavier than cheaper brands. Make sure they are secured well and don't plan on running a marathon while they are in your hair.
ADVICE: if you want a really good "set" - use a good, thermal styling set and spray each curl before you roll it. I am addicted to "Kenra Thermal Styling Spray"
Here's my pros & cons list:
Pros: 1. They're big, and there are more of them.
Prior to this set, I used the Conair TS7NR set of 5 jumbo rollers. They worked, but I usually ended up having to roll half my hair, let the rollers heat up again, then roll the other half. The greatest benefit of these rollers is the fact that there are 8 - it makes a big difference.
2. There are two different (but still "jumbo") sizes.
The smaller of the two sizes is the same size as my previous set, and the larger size is even better. The directions say to use the smaller size on shorter layers - I do it differently. I usually use the largest rollers on the top and front sections because it concentrates more body on top and frames my face in a pretty way. Using the smaller size on the bottom, longer, hair creates bouncy waves.
3. They heat up QUICKLY.
A common complaint I read in the reviews was that they get too hot. They do get really hot, but in my opinion the people who see that as a con are letting them heat too long. These are high-quality rollers, not drugstore cheapies. They don't need 10 minutes to heat up like other sets (I learned this the hard way).
4. They're compact. They fit in a drawer nicely and also travel well.
Cons: 1. The first couple of times I used them they made my hair staticy. I not longer have this problem, but it was annoying.

I can't recommend these rollers. 1. They get too hot to touch. 2. Way too heavy. 3. Heated up just fine.

These rollers won't stay in your hair and the clip break easily. Can't recommend it. It does heat up quickly and would be good for travel, but they just fall out.Published 1 month ago by JULI
