That is until she meets Tango Wright who is supposed to be a body guard. When sparks start flying Cali knows she can't trust him because the last time she let someone in it meant death for someone she loved.
Tango has a huge secret of his own and the whole time I was still wondering if Cali should trust him or if he was going to double cross her. I loved Tango but I never fully trusted him so how could Cali?
This book has a ton of 5 star reviews and it earned every one. The one thing I would change if I could would be the ending. It had a great ending but it was very rushed and felt thrown together. It just didn't feel quite as polished as the rest of the book. That being said this was a fantastic story and I devoured and loved each and every second of it. Don't be scared about what I said about the ending because you do get a wrapped up story, it's just not as lengthy as I would have liked.
I have purposely written this review to be very vague because I think it's one of those books that you need to go into blind. Almost any details that I could give would spoil this storyline.Get clickin'! This book was worth every penny!
Cali has been on the run for too long. She's tired, grieving and scared. Since her Mom past away, then her sister being murdered in front of her, by the man she gave her heart too, she's on a mission of revenge and survival. One phone call from her father and she's on her way out of this town, headed to Boston.
Tango is on the his last mission. Since being discharged from the Marines, this mercenary job is all he has. His family thinks he was killed while on tour, faking his death was his way of letting his parents grieve and give them peace, less suffering.
When Tango sees Cali at the airport, he knows he's in for one hell of a mission. She's closed off, cocky and cold. When Cali figures out that Tango has been sent by her father to protect her, she is livid. She doesn't need to be protected, she has survived this long. She resents Tango and what her represents.
She doesn't know what her father stole, but she knows it's important enough that she has been on the lamb running from more than she wants.
Now with Tango, she needs to learn to trust and she doesn't know if he is the enemy or her savior. In time, Cali learns, she has to become Tango's savior first. With Tango by her side, they set out to find her father and hope she doesn't lead the enemies to him, before she can save Tango.
These two characters make you laugh and cry. They are both alone in this world, but find their way to each other.
Cali is alone. Her dad is a member of the CIA and is on the run. He contacts Cali by using untraceable phones and depositing money in her checking account. He won't tell her where he is and helps her run to stay away from individuals trying to use her to find him. Sadly her mom died of cancer, leaving Cali and her sister Krissy alone. But life isn't fair, and Cali has suffered a lot. Her sister who was also her best friend, was killed before her eyes by the guy pretending to be her boyfriend. He wants the location of her dad and won't stop searching for Cali to use her to find her father.
Tango has survived several years as a Marine in Iran and Afganistan. He lost a lot of his friends, but that's not why he was discharged. No he was discharged because sometimes fate is a b!$&h. Fate chose to give him two to three months left to live. Tango becomes a mercenary and is hired by Cali's dad to protect her.
Cali doesn't trust anyone. Everyone she's ever loved has hurt or left her, yet she is drawn to Tango. She fights the attraction constantly. Tango finds himself falling for the spitfire he's supposed to be protecting. Cali is so tough, but he sees her pain. It's a reflection of his own. As the two become friends, Cali learns Tango's secret, and its not acceptable. She wants to do whatever she can to save him, which means finding her dad. But they are never not being chased so it won't be easy. Not to mention, it could be too late.
This was really a good book. Cali is a strong leading female character. You'll like her immediately and feel for what she's been through. Tango is a sweetheart. He's such a gentle, caring man. Yet he's tough as nails and will do whatever he can to protect Cali. It's not fair that's he's sick. As much as they try to fight their feelings for one another, you'll find yourself pulling for them to finally give in. They're really perfect for one another and spoiler......they get their happy ending.
