The stories in Tales of Our Lives: Fork in the Road are honest, poignant, and beautifully written. Many are heart-wrenching, a word this reviewer seldom uses but accurately describes the emotion elicited. Some readers will find the subject matters all too familiar. Hopefully, they will be encouraged and empowered by women who were brave enough to share their experiences. There are also fun stories about authors meeting their soul mates, such as Judy Conibear Kohnen’s Violets are Not Blue. I highly recommend this extraordinary book.

This is a really interesting collection of stories. There were times I couldn't put it down. I recommend that anyone who is interested in the lives of ordinary women and how extraordinary they can be, read it.

Full Disclosure: I am a contributor to this anthology. That being said, I still enjoyed every minute of reading these tales from the lives of "everyday" women such as myself. There were many excellent writers featured and the format of a series of short vignettes divided into sections made it an easy read. Perfect for knocking off one or two after settling into bed! Once again, Women's Memoirs has amassed an unforgettable collection of equally unforgettable tales. Bravo

I feel nothing but admiration for the women who have so honestly told their stories. It is a must read for any male who is interested in how women think, question, make decisions and feel. These stories are told by ordinary women who have taken the time and effort to write about their personal experiences that have affected the way they have chosen to live their lives. An interesting read.

A compilation of stories from women's lives, tales of coming of age, betrayals, infidelity, mothers and daughters, lasting love and more. This book touches on so many topics that affect our lives as women. It is also a writing guide with prompts for those who wish to write memoir.

This anthology contains many wonderful vignettes some captivating for their story telling, others for the author's voices.

The beauty of the anthology is the ability to pick and chose the stories that draw you in.

Each section of stories is preceded by writing prompts and tips.

So, if you are reading this because you love memoir and personal tales, I suggest skimming over the writing prompt parts of each section and skimming past the introductory chapter which also has a lot of writing advice.
If, on the other hand, you are (or aspire to be) a writer, you will find the introduction and all the writing advice very useful.

Full disclosure: I am one of the authors in this book.

I thoroughly enjoyed Tales of our Lives, a compilation of memoirs by women. These short, easy to read tales show the humor, resilience and strength of the women who lived through the events. I personally didn't need the writing advice as I don't plan to become a writer so I skipped those parts. And, no matter what the story was about, I know these events were/are important to every women author in this book for their own personal reasons. I salute the authors!
