Technical Details

Product Description

The Lithium Power Magazine or LPM is the energy system that runs the TaserC2. The TASER C2 is powered by this system for up to 50 30-second firings. First powered up (ARMED) the C2 will temporarily check the battery to see if it is low. When the "green" light comes on the battery is good if the "yellow" light shows the battery is "bad". A microcontroller senses the battery voltage that determines whether or not the battery is low or operating in the proper condition, which is -200 C. The LPM should not be stored where the gold contacts on the top of the unit will touch metal objects, causing it to short-circuit and malfunction. Loosing energy during these short-circuits will not register or can be tracked in the LPM.

My original battery lasted 3 years completely satisfying monthly checks. I installed this battery and it is already dying during the few second check. Complete rip off other than it did fit my Taser so it was the correct battery. Junk, please do not order, just do what I did right away and order another from the manufacturer.

My original battery (that came with the Taser) lasted about 3 years so I was disappointed when this one lasted one (or maybe even less). So the second time I purchased it (yes, I was stupid enough to buy it again), I kept the battery out of the Taser but right next to it (as I kept it in my side table so was easily accessible) and it STILL lasted one year or less. So this time, I went to the official Taser store, got one for $40 (less a $4 coupon - google "Taser, coupon" and you will get some results - I had to try 3 before the last one, 10% off, worked). So it ended up being the same or cheaper price-wise as well. I will try to remember to up date this site when that one dies but I would not buy from here again!!!
UPDATE: I bought my last one from the Taser website. Still the same result - lasts less than a year. Just weird how original battery lasted 3 years but all replacements less than one year (even when I kept it out of the taser but both in my side table)

I have replaced the battery in my C2 three times in less than a year. The las tone purchased was sparked tested three time and sat for 4 months and when I went to demonstrate, it lit up and then was dead...not sure if it is the batteries or the C2 itself...spend the money and by the x26...

I purchased a Taser C2 from this company around 2009. In 2014, I noticed that the battery light was not on (which meant the unit was non-functional). I contacted the Taser Company and got a replacement battery. Unfortunately, the new battery only lasted a few months.

When I contacted the company regarding their defective product, they told me that I needed to PURCHASE A NEW UNIT.
Really, I needed to spend around $400.00 for a new unit, because Taser does not stand behind their OVERPRICED defective merchandise they sell.

Finally, after being on hold and talking to different people for about 45 minutes, they said that if I PAID FOR SHIPPING the Taser back to them, they would give me a $50.00 credit towards a new unit. Wow, a whole $50.00!!!! That is the price of one battery.

Do not purchase any Taser products, they only guarantee that the Taser will function for 12 months. If it becomes non-functional after that, kiss your money good-bye. (In addition of all the numerous replacement batteries you may have purchased.) What good will it do you walking to your car in the dark when you pull out the defective unit? I guess you are supposed to throw it at them when it does not work.

Buy something less expensive, most units will have a one year guarantee, so why play so much for this one.

$40 for two c123 baterries is a rip off. I don't know why, but our c2 eats batteries doing nothing but sit in its holster. Taser won't inspect it without a charge. Tired of buying these batteries, when I have never fired the taser. Look online how to hack and make your own c123 battery. Stop buying taser garbage that been sitting in a warehouse for 3 years and no longer good. Look the date on your battery. I think taser told me 2 years was the maximum age they recommend. So unless you get it new from the factory, it will be time to replace it next year.

If I had known the batteries would be so expensive and unreliable I would not have purchased the C2. Taser appears to have taken a we win/ you lose marketing position in this respect. They should have either designed the C2 so that the consumer could replace the batteries themselves, or reduce the price of the existing unreliable cartridge substantially.

I opened the existing cartridge and found two generic CR123A batteries. They retail for about $13/pair for name brand so I'm guessing the Taser's margin is fairly substantial.

While I don't understand the steep price for a battery, it worked well and shipped quickly. I was happy to have it on my solo trip and since it is not a firearm I was able to stow it in my carry on without claiming it in my baggage. I would buy again if necessary. The company I purchased it from was quick to reply to my questions and very helpful.
