*UPDATE- Just received another box of LED bulbs (TCP LA1050KND6 LED A19 - 60 Watt Equivalent (10W) Daylight (5000K) Light Bulb - 6 Pack) they are the daytime LED'S. I have a medium to large office about 20x20 and a hanging light that holds 5 bulbs. I replaced my usual bulbs with these and OMG! are they bright. It's like daytime. Wow. These bulbs give off natural light so that it looks like the sun is shining inside. I love these. If you have a dark room and need it lit up like outside these are DEFINITELY the bulbs for you. And they will save you money all the while. I took several pix and was going to upload but my camera phone doesn't do them justice. Here's an updated pic of one of my lamps with a new daytime LED bulb and my original GE halogen bulb that claims to be like daylight.
Update 8/9/2015: These bulbs are still performing well and I have not had any of them burn out yet. A little more detail about their setup - three of them are in uncovered recessed lighting, and two are in a covered fixture (all of them are outside the house). They have endured the winter, the rainy spring and the hot Oklahoma summer!
I recently purchased a GE 54173 Socket Adapter Converts Outlet to Lamp Socket, Polarized Ivory to test how much wattage these bulbs use by using a P3 P4400 Kill A Watt Electricity Usage Monitor. I did this because I have counted 3 different wattage ratings.
-The box says these bulbs use 8.5 watts
-The bulb itself says it uses 9 watts
-The Amazon description says these bulbs use 9.8 watts
Unfortunately the closest one is the Amazon description as I measured these bulbs at 10.1 watts.
That is 18.9% higher than what the box says, which is quite a bit in my opinion when low wattage is supposed to be one of their big selling points. For comparison I also tested a CFL which says it uses 13 watts, but measured out at 14.3 watts. That is only 10% higher than what it says it will use.
These work so much better than the CFL bulbs they replaced. They are instantly on and put out a slightly less warm light, which is what I wanted because the CFL bulbs I had made everything look too yellow. I will slowly replace the CFL bulbs with these as more start to go out.
