TDK PRO SM-X20 Professional MASTER High Bias Audio Tape 20 min is a perfect cassette tape for recording one song on older multi-track recorders: Like several older Tascam Porta Studios. If you are like me there is still something comforting in holding an analog master, of a song you wrote and recorded, in your hand and not somewhere out there in the digital domain. This product reproduces high quality sound, but, the housing and mechanical performance is also top rate: quiet and smooth. Such quality instills confidence that the cassette tape will endure through the years.

I have a 4-track home recording studio that is based on using cassette tapes. Regular high bias cassette tapes are impossible to find these days, but it's a great relief to find these professional quality tapes that are cut to studio usable lengths, such as these which are 10 minutes per side running 4-tracks simultaneously. I've been using TDK pro tapes for years and they are consistently high quality and durable. I know I can rely on them always. Great product!

If you still enjoy recording on cassettes, this is probably the best tape you can get. The shorter length was geared to musicians recording their own work on, for example, a Tascam 4 track, but if you can live with the length, this is a great tape. You can make your own "Cassette Singles" with this, as it is 10 minutes per side.

I recorded a few songs (off of SACD...how ironic) onto a vintage Pioneer CT-F9191 Cassette Deck - I was surprised on how good the cassette sounded!

I asked questions; they gave me quick and accurate answers. I placed the order; they sent it to me very quickly and very well packaged. I hope to do more business with them.

TDK SM is the best recording tape I've ever used in more than 25 years of recording. I had a box of this product in the hour long configuration (which when used on my beloved old Yamaha cassette based mulitracker renders 15 minutes of recording time) and was reaching the end of that box. I ordered these to replace them but was disappointed I couldn't find a longer cassette. These were the only ones available at the time and, at 20 minutes they actually render 5 minutes recording time. Not really a problem since I don't do extended works but still cutting it close.

So my one-line review is the tape itself can't be beat, the mechanism is flawless and housing sturdy. I just wish this batch was a longer tape time.

Anyone still using an old 4 or 8 track cassette to sketch out ideas for songs, or whatever other use, these are really hard to find. They are way better than the old TDK SA 30's I used to use.
