Calibrated to an accuracy of +/- 4%, the TEKTON 3/8 in. Drive Click Torque Wrench lets you work with confidence, eliminating guessing and the common tendency to overtighten fasteners. Correctly tightening fasteners to a vehicle or equipment manufacturer's torque specifications ensures parts are properly secured without being damaged. Simple and easy to use, this wrench has a reversible ratcheting head that drives fasteners in both directions and measures torque in the clockwise direction. To measure torque, set the desired value on the handle scale (inch pounds or Newton meters) and begin tightening the fastener. When the preset torque value is reached, a reliable mechanical operation inside the handle produces a click you can hear and feel, alerting you to stop applying force. Built for consistent performance and years of dependable service, the mechanical design doesn't need batteries, and the all-steel construction has no plastic parts to break or wear out.
IMPORTANT: This wrench is shipped pre-calibrated and ready to use. Store at its lowest setting of 120 in.-lb./13.6 Nm when not in use. Be sure to read and understand the operator's manual, including all safety information, before first use.

It is a standard practice to "exercise" a torque wrench before making your final measurement, and in both the middle (62.5%) and upper (100%) of the range, both measurements improved by about 1% between the first and second rounds of measurement; each of which was preceded by clicking the wrench six (6) times. Another best practice is to use the wrench in the 20-90% of the maximum torque.
It should be noted that at the upper end of the range, the short length of this wrench makes the pull a little "stiff", compared to a longer arm which would have more leverage. This will work for my application as I only intend to use it in the 20-50% end of the range. The ten inch overall length (OAL) was the primary reason I chose this wrench over the newer one which is fourteen inches in length.
The wrench did not actually indicate that the force was over the limit, so I stripped the bolt at 27Nm setting on the wrench. Read the instructions again and thought that I might not have felt the click (even though I moved really slow given the settings). So tested on a much larger immovable bolt with the same setting. Nada - absolutely no indication. The product is busted.
Updated review: bumping from one to four stars.
I got a replacement unit very promptly from Amazon and compared the two side-by-side. The original wrench had a quieter click, which at very low settings makes a big difference, if you are unfamiliar with the operation of this particular wrench. I've used torque wrenches before, and they had a very distinct and harsh click. This does not. At lower setting, you might mistake the click for an initial bite of the wrench.
Interestingly, the two wrenches did not align their dials the same way. One was exactly at 0 at its 240 ft lb setting, and the other was off about 2/10th of the distance between the marks.
Overall, I think this will do the job, so I am leaving the second unit and returning the first one.
The ratchet profile is not as low as on some higher priced tools, but I found it to be of no concern.
The tool comes in a durable plastic box with good instructions on storage, use, and maintenance.
Purchased the tool from Amazon Warehouse deals for under $25.00. Can't beat that!.
I'll say this, you have to move very slow and deliberately to make sure you get to right point of torque. It requires very small movements until you feel and/or hear it click. I highly recommend reading the instructions that come with so as to get good work out of this thing.
It seems fairly durable thus far and I expect it to last me a fair while.
Certainly for the money this is worth. Most other torque wrenches are more expensive.
