I have the worst luck..
This vise was either used and returned, or was damaged in shipping. The lead screw "T" handle was bent, and the inner product box that it came in was in tatters. But that's the least of the issues.
The lead screw nut was misaligned from the factory, so opening and closing the jaws was difficult and gritty. I had to break the entire thing down so I could unfasten the screw nut from the vise and reattach it so that it was centered. Once I was in there, I decided to clean the whole thing, check for and round over some of the sharp edges with hand files, and apply some proper grease to the lead screw and lead screw nut.
I imagine that if it was previously used, then the screw nut being misaligned was likely the reason it was returned, and also, due to the difficulty turning the handle, possibly why the T handle was bent as well. I suppose that once they got it back, noticed it looked fine at first glance and shipped it right back out to me as a new vise.
At this point, I've got it at least functioning like a vise should, so I suppose that's something. But really, shouldn't it come that way already?
No idea how long it's going to hold up, but I hope it lasts for a couple of years at least. I see an awful lot of pictures of these small Chinese made vises cracked down the middle.
What really irks me is that it's the exact same vise as the Grizzly G7057 (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0000DD5ZT), but this variation costs $5 more. I guess black paint costs more than blue? No idea. Wish I had gotten that one, though. ;\
I have purchased multiple torque wrenches, crowfoot wrenches, pry bars, and of course this vise as well, among other items. They have all held up very well against my somewhat active home garage use maintaining three cars regularly for all services and upgrades they receive. I am quite impressed with the quality, packaging, and general durability of these tools. And I really am appreciating the cost difference between these very capable tools and those big store brands I used to love.
I'm not switching everything in my toolbox out just yet though, but Tekton is definitely earning my trust rather quickly. I find myself looking for their products first now when I have something to replace, or want to pick up one of the new tools on my list. Hoping to see many more years of quality use out of these tools!
A few things I would like to point out about this vise. First, it came with a paper diagram that you could tape to the spot where you want to mount the vise and use the template to drill holes which are supposed to match up with the holes on the vise. Super thoughtful idea, but unfortunately the diagram did not match up. I just use a pencil and outlined the holes which worked fine. My second issue with this vise was that the directions noted to use 3/8 inch screws. I purchased the 3/8 screws/nuts/washers and found that they didn't fit the holes in the vise.
This vise certainly does its job, just make to fit it properly and that the directions may not be 100% accurate. For the price I was perfectly happy to work around those few flaws.

This is a fairly high quality vise that will do fine in your home workshop.
It comes packed in a thin layer of grease but if you need a bench vise you shouldn't be frightened by that.
Has good warranty with company available online. No sharp edges or castings. Works well and offers
superior quality to most vise brands at this price point and even higher.
Get this one if you want a medium size vise for general home use.
