Amazon only sells this, so I don't blame them for not knowing about it. The original Chinese manufacturer fraudulently claims, both in the ad copy and on the package that the unit has 'all steel gears and levers (pawls)'. They're not steel! They're made of sintered, pressure-cast zinc or zinc-aluminum alloy, and will NOT BE SAFE at the rated load! We tested them for steel content with high-strength neodymium magnets before even unpacking the unit. Any time I see pressure-casting 'sprue marks', and chrome plating so thick it hides almost all surface-details... I suspect the part isn't what it seems. And it wasn't!
I'm sure even the US distributor doesn't know. Only the Chinese manufacturers know that they've deliberately substituted inferior, unsafe components in this. But someone needs to tell the distributor.
DO NOT Buy one of these, if you want to keep your limbs intact!
