Sharing this on all the Tekton products I purchased.
1. The mirror is made of some sort of glass that is difficult to clean.
2. The ring holding the mirror to the mirror holder is not perfectly circular and looks like it was placed by a kid with a hammer and a little screwdriver. It's got little wrinkles on about 20% of the mirror ring-holder.
What I like about it.
1. The handles are sturdy.
2. The Telescoping rod works well.
3. The articulating holder on the mirror works well and stays up.
No Complaints about the Magnetic Retrieval device.
It's probably worth the 7 bucks but the mirror is definitely not the quality of a dentist's mirror. It would probably work well in the engine compartment of a car but I'm trying to use it inside communications radios which I think is a darker and smaller environment. I think I"ll put it with my automotive tools.
UPDATE - Dec 31, 2013: After using this mirror a bit I've actually grown rather fond of it. It's great for wiring up the back of desktop computers. The big mirror makes location of the connectors easy, the ball joint thingy that allows setting the mirror at a good angle works well and the handle feels accurate. I didn't think I'd ever like this tool, but I do. I'm upping my rating to 4 stars.
Ok a mirror and a magnet are must haves but I am not so sure these are the ones anymore. After only 2 uses the magnet came out of the end of the extension. Still can't find the magnet. Looking at what I had left I could tell the magnet had been glued in and the glue failed. Well of course the glue failed terrible design.
The magnet is not that strong I can say it is strong enough to grip a little bolts or screws.
The mirror is not held well in place with sharp edges and the flexible joint gets loose easily when used.
The hand grip in both are hard plastic slippy with wet hands and don't give good grip.
I don’t recommend it for who is looking for the acceptable quality.
