If speed is what you need, this is not the solution - quality and packaging are its advantages
I was a little disappointed with the speed of data transfers when using my Windows machines to copy folders from Disk 1 to Disk 2. I conducted my test using two different windows machines both with i9 processors and with either USB 3.0 or USB-C cable connections. Both tests involved copying one folder of 768 GB size from Disk 1 which is NTFS formatted to Disk 2 which is exFAT formatted - this is why I didn't use the local Disk 1 to 2 copy function because I wasn't cloning Disk 1.The maximum data transfer achieved with the TerraMaster D2 clone was 19MB/second. My transfer is scheduled to finish in 5 hours. As you can see from the photo, I have several different dual drive SATA enclosures. I generally use the top one (Sabrent EC-HD2B) to quickly work on bare drives. The same folder copy from Disk 1 to 2 on the Sabrent had a transfer rate of 50-75MB/sec - more than double! [Less than half the time.You might ask "'Why I didn't just use the Sabrent for this job?". The reason was packaging. The final 2-drive solution was going into a customer equpiment rack and I didn't want to have exposed bare drives that could be easily jostled which in turn causes a customer call when things stop working.The TerraMaster is very solidly built, I am impressed. I selected it for it's compact size, USB-C (wishing for top speed), and the fan - folks don't really understand how operating temperatures can effect electronics and drives. I have two 4-bay Synology enclosures for myself (see picture). I place a very noisy, very high CFM fan in front of these enclosures to drive forced air across the drives. This drops the drive operating temperatures by easily 30 degrees Centigrade. My Synology arrangement has been (and still) operating for 10 years without any drive failures. The high speed transfers are quite fast, but do drop when I turn the fan off. For TerraMaster D2, I believe the fan will also reduce/eliminate premature failures. Unfortunately, it didn't improve data transfer which is why I gave this product a less than stellar rating.All the manufacturer needs to do is work on the data transfer aspect of their product and this would be a really sweet, good-looking, very affordable dual drive solution for media servers. I gave storage capacity 3-stars because, that attribute has nothing to do with the enclosure unless you're trying to use 12 TB drives - there, some enclosures can't manage drives greater than 8TB. I'm using two 2-TB Seagate drives (rotational). There are several other big name NAS products out there but they cost more than double.Hope this helps. ...m
